Good evening viewers, here i am back on the southend thread, or sould that be essex thread which it seems to be rapidly becoming!, times running out for my postings so theres lots to get through tonight!!, bit sad this but just had to show you it, its a piece of paper with tramps burger bar chelmsford on it, its from the bob rothwell box, yes dear old bob kept everything!!
I do believe Andy who run Tramps lives in the Philippines now. Did not find a dried up burger as well ? Mark.

These are a few more shots taken at the Charity Show in Grays
I ASSUME THIS IS THE PROGRAMME FROM THAT SHOW?, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS MADE FROM A SCHOOL EXERCISE BOOK, PRESUMABLY A SCHOOL IN HOUSE PRODUCTION!!, IVE ALSO COPIED ONE PAGE OF WHICH THERE ARE MANY, THIS ONE HAS VANILLA OLAY ON IT..HOPE YOU CAN READ THEM OK.....
IT IS OF COURSE FROM THE BOB ROTHWELL BOX....
ok here we go then, firstly we have the 1982 secret street rodders ball piece of paper which i would assume was given to everyone who was coming or just got there, (although it isnt titled as such), this is probably quite a rare piece of paper as hardly anyone turned up!, still must have kept rogers costs to a minimum!! I dont think i went to this show, but i think there were 2 others??? As i have pics from 2 other shows there.
The next piece of paper shows the pub run 82, at present i am unsure if this was part of the same event or not, but have a look anyway.....
Its all from bobs box of course.....
Stay tuned
Is that from Ilford Films factory Basildon i think Ron was there.
well i was thinking it was the grays one, but now looking in the centre it says it was on the 26th of november (yes november!) 1977, ilford sports & social club basildon & custom car show, there is also a lot of stuff about photography mentioned as well so yes ken its that one....
Stay tuned....
Moving on now, as promised heres some of my pics of one of the balls from 84, i went to this show, first pic is the no expense spared flyer/programme, cant say i can tell you much about any of those cars though, dont recognise that red 55 either??
by the way & forgive me if im teaching you to suck eggs, but i diddnt realise if you click on the picture twice it goes bigger!!

& some more,. sorry dont know much about these either, other than the Jago(?) jeep looks like it had a v8 in it, & the last pic is the awesome nick kemps Lo Lid Zephyr, which has been recently reborn in a different guise...
& some more, loved the 1st blue pop, saw it a few years ago at the essex nats, now totally different with a pointy sort of grille, in dark blue, looked totally different, you wouldnt recognise it unless you knew the reg no, which im normally pretty good at remembering, its also been pink in the later guise as well, i preffered the origional incarnation. moving on i think the silver ones the Berpop Pop??, i have just realised the yellow pop is the later incarnation of wild ride, so i had seen it in the later guise without even realising, obviously didnt recognise that plate!! cant tell you much about the other pix...

& theres more......liked that Ha viva, dont know much about it though, wonder what happened to it or if it got finished?.....& who are the guys looking at nick kemps Zephyr, dig that aron roll neck jumper & haircut, is it you?, will you admit it??, the last pic shows one of the Skinner brothers (taz fiat 126 s) Big N nasty Granada, loved that car as well, first saw it at the imperial roadsters 80/81 doo at the nothfleet football ground, gravesend, it was yellow & brown then & the front was still low, it performed one of the first burnouts i had seen together with henry hirise, it had big n nasty down the rear quarters!! Loads of the women there presumably from the imperial roadsters had white t shirts on with 'we only ***k with the morons' on them!! never did find out who the morons were or if it was true!, anyway i later saw that granada at the pod, it had been zz striped & there was a matching Fiat 126 with a turning clockwork key sticking out the back which was presumably the start of the Skinners love for the 126......got all the pix but thats another story..
& finally. The capri in the sky loved that, still about i believe, but who ar the 2 imperial roadsters guys next to it?, then theres a brace more fords, corsairs look nice rodded, not that you see that many...., moving onto the cop car in the distance you can just make out, yes you guessed it bob-rocky-bullet hole bob-rothwells model y, the man & the car, both british hot rod legends, hopefully we will see that y again in not to many years time.......
Thats all from this show folks...i have a few more of what i think was a later ball, if I find them b4 my posting pleasures are closed off......

You've done it again Mopar!!!
Such brilliant pics keep coming out!!
This one I believe is of Ken Johnson's Anglia, probably the only Rod Run he ever went to!
(Just checked and its not Ken's car!! His had a chrome grille and running boards)
I bought my Pop from him in 1977, and there it is on the right!
Also, to the left is my '66 Beetle, a nice looking car, but something went wrong with the steering and I could only turn left!
At the back, (I might be wrong), but I think that is Bob Rothwell's tea making ensemble.
And lastly, there's some miserable sod with a can of beer in his hand in the photo too.......
Have you got any of the little square stickers I printed with the Gumby image?

The two Pops at the top of the page are from Bristol, Mike Bull's Coupe?
Captain Scarlet's Pop in there too. (Silver and Red)
The Hillman Husky was from manchester way I think
I think the guy in the brown leather jacket looking at the engine is Stan Kiddle. 604 FMY Dark Maroon Pop, another EPF man!
His wife, Helen ran a really lovely Classic Capri too. I looked on the Capri thread but couldnt see it shown.
