Further Information: NSRA Pre-49 day at Prescott Hill Climb

    3rd October 2010

Prescott 'Autumn Classic' Hill Climb event.
Prescott Hill, Gotherington, Cheltenham, Glos. GL52 9RD

The NSRA pre-49 day for 2010 will be held at the Prescott 'Autumn Classic' Hill Climb event, on the 3rd October. As this year's event has an American theme, the organisers have invited the NSRA to attend as a Club on the Sunday of this weekend event. Bristol Hotrods have also been separately invited, so we intend to combine the NSRA and Bristol club areas to hopefully make an impressive showing!

The event consists of competition on the hill, plus trade stands, club stands, an autojumble and various other attractions. The organisers will provide an enclosure in the Clubs area for NSRA Members to display their cars. Sunday entry for NSRA rods and passengers should be free, other adults £15 on the day, or £12 if booked in advance from Prescott. Entry for children 14 and under is free. Please let the gate staff know you are heading for the NSRA reserved club parking area.

Prescott Hill Climb, based just outside Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, is home to the Bugatti Owners Club, and one of the world's most prestigious motor racing venues. Set in 60 acres of glorious Cotswold countryside, the estate not only provides a beautiful setting for a range of classic car and bike weekends, but also hosts major motor racing championships.

The 1127 yard course rises over 200 feet via short straights, fast and slow corners and a breathtaking hairpin, with the fastest modern racing cars completing the course in an exciting 36 seconds.

The action can be viewed from strategic points along the course as well as from the restaurant terrace. Visitors and competitors alike can enjoy an exhilarating days racing plus vintage cavalcades up the Hill.

Here's some more information on what's planned for the Prescott weekend - but please remember that the NSRA pre-49 day invitation is for the Sunday only:

Spills, chills and hot-rod thrills at Prescott Autumn Classic

Prescott Speed Hill Climb, the Gloucestershire home of the Bugatti Owners' Club, will host two days of America(r)na for its end of season Autumn Classic event on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 October.

To celebrate American automobilia there'll be Corvettes and Cadillacs, hot rods and flatheads (Ford V8s), Indians (motorcycles) and Harleys (Davidsons). Alongside the muscle cars and iconic motorcycles will be crowd-pulling favourites including the original exploding Model T Ford used by Laurel & Hardy and the Keystone Kops and Donald Trump's stretch Cadillac.

The Stars & Stripes theme continues with Elvis and his Las Vegas Showgirls, Sam & his Sax and the Jive dancers providing entertainment in the paddock throughout the weekend.

Spectators can treat their stomachs to the American theme with corndogs, hotdogs, shakes, wings and, of course, the essential American breakfast – eggs, hash browns, bagels, donuts and so on with lots of coffee or juice.

There'll be plenty of action on the famous Prescott hill with classic vehicles competing in the mornings and afternoons of each day. On Saturday 2 October, they will be joined by flatheads – the Chas Bang Dragster, holder of the UK flathead record, will also be on display.

Also on Saturday, Daleks racing against time will provide less serious competition and all weekend riders will be fighting gravity in the Wall of Death.

With American club stands, a vintage hot rod display and a concours competition for custom cars and rods completing the all-American theme, the Prescott Autumn Classic is not to be missed – y'all be there!
