Yes, I'm sure it will be. Unpicked most of the wiring on the old fuses and switches, and procured the fittings and pipe for redoing the front brakes and line locker. I fabricated a new console for all your goodies and gadgetry today, as the old one is a tad small, and will only need remodelling down the line anyway, so we're moving in the right direction at least
I've got a cover shot of it on our facebook workshop page, see https://www.facebook.com/Hangar53 I've taken a few that I'll add to an album as work progresses.
Yesterday, we fired 'Lizzie' up for the first time in 18-months. She'd actually attracted a small following, so we laid on a buffet in the Hangar 53 garage and the pressure was on Si, the guy sorting out the mess that she'd become. He'd had her for 50-hours of 'work time', which isn't a great deal, but Lizzie didn't disappoint...
By pure 'chance', Hangar 53 happens to be located on an old WWII airfield, so it would have been rude not to take her down the strip a few times and also give everyone there a ride in her.
There are still a lot of things to do - the handling was 'interesting', to say the least, but the aim of the day was to get the running side sorted. I don't really 'do' emotion, but I was kind of happy...
After such a long time, I went to bed last night like a kid on Christmas Eve, dreaming of my car again!
More updates coming soon....along with an MOT!
Haha! Who ever said there was sane reasoning in these things?
I sometimes look at mine and think it looks fugly, but then I think that's where the beauty comes from. She certainly looks different.
Everyone still says, "Is it a Pop?" when they see her, mind you....
I'm a lucky man
Irene Ingles contacted me during the week. Her husband, Paul, used to won this car and sold it to pay for their first home together. Paul has emailed me some photos today.
I'm over the moon again and hope to bump into the pair of them next year, so that they can have a drive in the car again and bring back a few memories.
Thanks Irene & Paul - you've made me smile like a Cheshire cat today
How many colors / times has it been painted??
I hope to see yours and mine together at the supernats next year
Haha! Yeah, there are still a few colours under the black it is now that I haven't seen photos of yet...including pink! Lizzie has certainly got some 'history and to think, I wouldn't have known any of this without the internet.
I want to lap up every show I can next year, so our paths will definitely cross!
I also have some pictures from my wedding which Paul & Barry attended, they were good days, did you have any with the grill paul made that was stunning
No - all the pics I have are on this thread I think, John. I haven't heard back from Irene and Paul, either, so I hope my emails got through to thank them
I'd love to see any pics you may have of the car and am intrigued about this grill now
All the best,
Elton
Sorry badly worded i have a number of pictures of Pauls car along with others, black rose that were at my wedding, so will post the car pictures, new to this and getting older.
I keep in touch with Paul & Irene so will give him a nudge, cheers, John
Just about ready for paint now...
There are a few new photos at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...2196762&type=1
The car will be all black for now, including the grill. Funds permitting, she may return to deep purple next year!
