My fan is completely shrouded Ian, no flaps or anything. It's a Mk2 Jag rad recored with a 4 core centre. No problems at idle or at speed.

I'm running a 350 small block Chevy.
I got it re-cored by GT radiators in Sunbury.

I’ll Have a look at shrouding mine when the rad comes out soon, hopefully make the fan more effective in traffic jams on a hot day (yes it is the biggest Spal sucker) ,only need a small percentage increase in efficiency here,it needs the rad cap height raising too, like Johns is ,as it causing a slightly short coolant level scenario.
Dropped in place yesterday to check fit
Now waiting on some Mikalor clips too fit hoses. Then the 2 side plates can be tightened. These help keeping the air from spilling round the sides at speed

Chasing a starter fault. Rewire whole circuit too eliminate a poorly wire. And got window frames in primer.

The crank wire? I see Chevy purple. They're rather heavier gauge than one might imagine. Caught me out when I fitted a nss that had been omitted by previous owner. I just used something I had lying around, chosen on colour. Worked fine, but then had intermittent fault which had me replacing the starter (having tested the wire, 12v, OK!), unnecessarily as it turns out. When the wire subsequently died it was easier to identify (continuity), I then realised my error! Gggrrr.

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.
I had continuity, it was resistance that showed up it was quite right, after 20 years of cranking i suppose it had had enough !
Ahh, that's it, the wire went blind..... oh, you said cranking....

Load to the solenoid ... cranking is taken care off by the main battery wire ?
