With a bit of inspiration from Ian and Mark Harley I've opted to cut out about Inch and a half of the wing too clear the hinges when it tilts and stop the cracking on the wings. Also added a return too stop the spray coming through ..pics Name: 20241204_151811.jpeg

Good to see proper footwear in the workshop. All to often these days it's flip flops in the pictures.

What's what looks like black tape doing looking like it's under the 'glass?

It's going too be that much longer than yours Mark and the fact it has 195s inset i could see by the spray marks it was possibly a problem ... who knows

Not much going on here ,apart from the addition of this 7W Ford 10 red grille badge.

I had never been too bothered about getting one and they are hard to find especially in good condition, but Julie found one on E bay , and i think the grille shell now deserves it.
I had to make a brass mounting disc with brass studs to mount it on, because i didn't have that part.
Here it is, kind of like the last bauble on the Christmas tree.

Ive moved the badge up slightly since the photo ,because after ( warning ,entering into dark web big anorak zone ) checking a lot of old footage and photos,it appears that the 7W MK1 1937 (four piece grille insert) had them mounted slightly higher than the 7W MK2 1938 (three piece insert ),so its now repositioned .

Well,i did warn you ,too much boring detail

A bit of maintenance to do in the new year and stamp the service book.

too much for a badge you can just move.

Having said that,I spotted a 7W in an old movie yesterday that had it mounted on the passenger side, never seen one there before

"Badges ! We don't need no stinking badges !"

but if it was left hand drive it'd still be on the driver's side, lol.

I haven't put in enough detail now.
I thought as I typed it out Neil ,should I word this differently, but I thought nah.
See,I have to do it now
It was an old UK film 'the League of Gentlemen ' 1960,it was right hand drive, but I don't think they made any left hand drive 7W's,but technically you are right.

Now I've ended up typing more than I would have done if I had done it right in the first place
Plenty of room on here anyway

What's the plan for the finished look of the new join / gap? I'm struggling a bit to imagine what it might be to make it look good, but I'm sure there's a cunning plan!

Just a painted shut line. It's just more pactical for opening and shutting and takes a stress point away by introducing the curve
