Been off work this week due to it being quiet and spent alot of time messing in the garage, getting back in the groove.

Cut a new bracket for the battery today, had the kids helping with filing/painting,took an age to cut the diamond shapes (3mm plate!) but wanted something different to just holes.

Gonna whack some carpet in the boot soon too.Extra weight but will tidy it up no end.

    Pop top tip

Following on from my last 'Top Pop tip',of greasing the door latch behind the door panel, which has been of some benefit to at least Alex (my53anglia)

I can bring you another Top Pop tip, born out of 'numptieness' on my part

I have had a spot of water leaking in through the top of the boot since i put my pop on the road in 1980,and i have only just found out the reason, after a short investigation ,i found that the water was getting past the original screws that hold the boot catch to the drainage channel of the boot.
So, some new pan head pins and some silicone to seal under the heads should now see the end of that silly problem.
Took me 30 years ,but i got there

Well done Ian! 30 years eh...

    Water is a right ******* is'nt it,gets in everywhere!
I had a small leak in my boot, only for the 4 years i've had it,and thought it was due to the poorly fitting ('glass) bootlid.
Yesterday i took off the Jag filler cap and there is a hole in the bottom of the recessed panel...filled it and im hoping that has sorted mine also.

My Minor also leaks like crazy around the front 'screen,NO amount of silicone can sort it...oh well,i'll keep wearing my wellies!

It sounds pretty daft as I have had my car for 34 years and always thought the doors were just heavy. As I had to change my windows anyway I took the time to do as Ian suggested. Blaaadddy Hell What a difference. No more mega slamming to get the doors to close.

I guess you will be checking out your crank case breathing too, like Swompy then eh Peter ?
I have seen them 'balloon' up with very excessive crank case.
Did you see the link in Swompys thread.

I did Ian and I've had advice from Klunk as well. I replaced the gasket before billing and changed the breathing and everything was fine untill I was driving up to the nos nats.

I think I need to check it again
