What size rear wheels for gasser ?

Hi just starting Ford Pop gasser project body / chassis / front axle all sorted. Ime now looking at suitable rear wheels, there are some good choices for the nostalgia look but size is my issue. Some of the rims are only available up to 8x15 are these suitable or should i go 10x15 (i will be using standard rear arches with tyre potruding as per original gassers. Ime planning on using it in the gasser circus but also possibly for road use. Taking into account slick sizes etc (which i havnt got a clue about) which is the best option for me. Regards Mark

On a Pop? There's no given size is there? The bigger the better right? It doesn't matter if they stick out from the bodywork. I've seen pics of this car with even bigger wheels on it.

If its a period gasser build stay away from falling into the pro street wheel size trap. I agree that 8's are a perfect wheel size. Street tyres will work well & a set of 10" slicks will be fine on them for racing but unless your unleashing 1000hp 8-9" wide slicks will be fine.

yeh, lous car has big a55 slicks, but only because an awesome axle came up locally that was a bit too narrow, and the only way to fill out the rear was to use big tyres .
ive just ordered 10.5 M/Ts for mine.

Anxious used to run on 8" or may be 8.5" rims. That car run a best of 10.03 I think and would pull wheel stands on virtually every run.

Depends if you want it to look right i guess Mickey, I think its possible to go too big on a Pop for sure.

Hi ime going for the 8 x15 i know its a personal thing but they seem to sit better under a pop in my opinion and look to be closer to some of the original gassers, thanks for everyones advice greatly appreciated - Mark
