For you Mr B. Taken at the same time as the 'wrecker' photo.
I have another photo somewhere taken in the workshop. I'll look it out soon.
Neither the wrecker nor that other car are showing up on the DVLA site now.
    What car is this anyway?

"It was an amazing time and it took us to The Southern Roadsters run twice and several other runs before being sold"

I believe that this was the first of those runs to The Southern Roadsters which probably was in '73-4.
We met up at a service station on the Oxford bypass and then we all headed down the A34 to the New Forest
for the overnight camp before moving on to Beaulieu Motor Museum.

In the very first pic posted I thought it looked like a Land Rover front axle.

I took this photo of Geoff`s `Jago` 1 around 15 years ago at a local car show at Uxbridge, it was for sale at the time and I seriously considered buying it. It`s now owned by Geoff`and his son!.
I believe it originally was a Thames or Fordson version of the Ford Pop, Bill...

I have virtually the same photo Bill, that I took on the Southern Roadsters run to Beaulieu in `72 . The lead Mustang was driven by Geoff.
My buggy is the 4th car back, behind John Jewell`s Chartreuse Metalflake T and immediately in front of your T!.
Here`s a big coincidence!, that`s me in the Black jacket and Maroon trousers, in your photo, walking towards you to take this photo!!. In my photo it looks like you`ve just walked back to your car and are standing by the side of it!!

Believe it or not, I still have the invite from Southern Roadsters which was stuck under my Buggies wipers at an early 1972 meet at the Pod, written on the back of this Castrol window sticker...>>>>>

Jago One , based on a Fordson was Geoffs first rod but he actually built a custom first ! He fitted twin headlights and tailfins on his dads Mk 1 Consul.

What a real coincidence for sure! Almost identical photo's must be a first!!

So it was '72 then? I wasn't sure of the year as at that time, I never wrote the dates on the back of the photo's.

I have in front of me now, a few photo's from that first campsite and at Beaulieu. I'll have to scan them later then upload when I have time.

I would hazard a guess that the date was around the last week of July or the first week of August as that
was when the firm I worked for shut down for the holidays. 'tis a guess though!
Here are 2 photo's from that campsite which I believe was near to Lyndhurst?

Great photos Bill and yes, it was in August `72, I found some photos of mine marked as such.
Yes, the campsite was in the Lyndhurst area and I remember quite a few of us going to a country pub for the evening after setting up camp!.

The yellow RME was glassfibre and fitted with a 3.8 Jag lump. Was from Hayling Island and a Southern Roadsters car .

Your thinking of the BHRA Hyde Park underground car park show Paul, it was in `64.
Other cars there were Brian Cooles `34 Ford sedan, Mickey Thompsons `Harvey Aluminum Special` dragster, Ken Coopers `33 Ford cabriolet, and an Allard `Dragon` dragster amongst others...

    Excellent thread guys

I just spoke to Ken Cooper about this thread, but he said he wasn’t there at the Hyde-park underground car show ,but he seems to think that Nobby hills Hound dog dragster was there ,do you remember that Bri ?
He also said that as far as he knew Brian Cooles 34 sedan was towed to all the events while the car was in Brian’s possession and it never ran ?
