It's arrived safe and sound from America. Its now sitting in my new workshop waiting for us. We should be on this in the next couple of weeks. Dragstaliga 2023 is hopefully it's revealing date.

Cheers guys. I'm really looking forward to this build. Tom will be in charge as he will be building the new chassis and roll cage. We have most parts for this build. It will be running the 377 sbc and power glide out of the tinsel town hustler.

looks to be a cool project mate, will you paint this one or just some 'patina' style race car signwriting?
and anyway what were you doing up at 4.16am looking at forums?
neil.
At the moment it's not getting painted just the dents knocked out.
I've been waking up around 4am for some unknown reason.
Real steel
Not long to go before its operation dorset. Lots of parts now sorted. I think this is going to be tough looking old car on a very nice chassis.
Real steel
The rears.

If that wheel/tyre combo is anything to go by, I reckon you're spot on John very tough looking indeed. Looking forward to the build mate.

Front and rear axles away now being narrowed. I will order the box section steel for the main rails monday. To run in the gasser circus you need a box section chassis. Every thing is all going to plan. 75% of parts sorced now.
Real steel
Nice one.

Will be back on it tomorrow for a few hours. Hopefully dash out windscreen and steering box. I thinking about a fiberglass front for it.
Real steel
I'm assuming they are readily available then John?
Cheers Tim W

I have been making some bits for Johns Austin.
You can Catch the build on Facebook also under ‘Austin Dorset Gasser Circus Build’
however I’m sure John and I will continue to post on here to keep it alive!
Here is the front axle fixture. Some quick maths, measuring some box section and welding we have a front axle fixture with ability to adjust King Pin Angle to the desired degree.
Also a rear axle fixture. This is again box section steel welded together with clamps. Also you can see a front extension to the box section. This will allow me to put a diff in and have a scissor jack under it.
the idea behind this is to check pinion angle and driveline angle at every front hole ladder bar location.
the plan is to position the engine with the best run to the pinion. As some of you may know in the low slung door slammers crank noses can point downwards to achieve the best drive line angle. Some may sit level.
This being a gasser will be interesting to take the time to see what kind of angle will work best. It’s never going to be on the street so angles may be slightly different to expected worth the time to check.
The comp engineering ladder bars come with a 3 hole front braket. Half moon weld mating face
I have also got some 5 hole front brakets that slot fully over a tube. I would like to use these for future proof, adjustment/the unknown best I/C point.
i will mock up the 5 hole and check all hole to see if the turn buckles have the adjustment for them.
plenty to do before that though, lots of fine tuning to the axle braket to casing fitment for a nice tight fit.
body ride height to set up and stand back. Measure the desired wheel base.
An engine can then be mocked up in a bay and look at the desired angles above.
Enjoy.
