cheers Tim, I’ve got the passenger side back side tacked on, and the front braket marked out. Cut it out and drill the hole in the right place and they can be tacked on. Then address some gusseting for strength a bit like you’d see on a strutted front tube car. Once that’s done some fake rod shocks can go in and technically the car could roll. I will be leaving it in the air through ease of working at the height it’s at, once they are in a bit of a clear up I think then the next stages will most likely be seating , steering and brake pedal position.

Starting to sound like it's getting towards the finish line Tom.

Still plenty to do Tim! I’m just breaking it down in to sections. I’d like to think I’m half way now

Managed to get Tom a superb radiator for this dorset. Apparently it will keep any engine cool. But it was at a price.Name: 20230728_134116.jpeg

    True, very true.

Just looked a lot at first glance, even with the discount.
Can't say I've any experience in buying a rad for a race motor though.

I never cut corners on keeping a engine cool for that reason neil . I always use a spal fan on my cars. I don't get caught up in them super fans that can suck the chrome off a bumper.

I’ve been away racing this weekend with the Gasser Circus. I managed to get another small session in before the racing this ment I got all the front top shock mounting tabs finalised and welded on bar a few small bits.

The shock upper tabs were made to wrap around as much of the tube as possible, and link in to the motor plate mount also. Assuming this would gain some strength,
This is how I wanted the front end to be, motor plate tubes and shock mounts all close and intersecting as close as possible. There was a logic of it all being tied in together. Who knows if it was the right thing to do but I think so!

I'm probably not the most versed in race car construction but it looks good to me too Tom.

same mate, haha! Normally they’re either under or over engineered? Unless built by a pro where they know the limits of certain points. I’ve put some hours on to certain research to try and make it pretty respectable, it should all work well at this power level. Different story when you try and throw 1000 horse through something.

This evening a couple of boxing bits were made from steel have been welded in to the gap between the 2 shock tabs.
Slight contraction as occurred even with spacers in the tabs. No huge issue a little spreader will adjust them out a tiny amount again.
I’ll be moving on to the next stages when I can this week.

Weekend update, I thought I would move on to the seat, brake pedal and steering column next, but when thinking a bit more I would need some steel in the chassis void to mount the seat from, so started to think a bit more and came up with incorporating floor support, prop hoop and seat mount in one. I had made a start on the week but Todays target was to get the steel in to the centre void of the chassis and sort the prop loop.

I can now work on the seat position , column and pedal. as I’m starting from scratch I can get the steering where I want it with some joints and supports. Should be be too difficult once the seat is in.

I’ve left the door bar out till now also and need to sort the harness bar once the seat is in.

lots to do still but it is coming together and still making good progress.

I’ve been working on some seat mounts, luckily I got to use my new bit of equipment and turn some threaded bung down a tad to fit in some short bits of tube to mount the seat on.
