    Todays Update

Todays update is a lot of cutting! Dragged out the new toy from under the bench, a new plasma cutter I got a while ago now but I’ve never used it. It’s only a cheap one but it got through this easy enough!
Bulkhead came out first, then the front section of floor followed by the rear seat section.
We also had a measure up of desired body height to floor so I can transfer this to the jig.

Next will be checking out any other bits that will need cutting out of the body.
Then make a few braces for the body so it stays good when it’s lifted of the chassis!
Once off the chassis and on the floor I will neaten up the edges.
    Thats it for this one!

    Tonight’s progress.

I managed to get over to the workshop this eve. The plan was to make some braces to hold the body.
The main concern was to keep the a posts together as the bottoms are a little crusty and nothing links them when removed.
Braces made out of 20mm angle bolted in to the body and easy to remove / refit if required!
One thing lead to another! And with the help of a couple of guys we decided the body would come off now And that it did!
Also we set the wheel base on the jig, checked adjusted 5 times. Will maintain checks through the build just to be sure.

Next up is some plasma cutting, trimming up, and making some little fixture for body to sit on on the jig. This is all planned and should be easily made! He says!

Might not be the weekend till another update, see how things go outside the workshop. John as above will be back at the weekend and I suspect remove the rear wings if I don’t get time for that.

enjoying this so far. i am logging plans and measurements in a large note pad. I’m calling it the book of success! Hopfully it will pay off!

Just a small update this evening.
i had a small amount of time spare so went over and cut the extra pits off the front end. Trimmed up the original body mounts around the b post area. Plenty more to come out yet.

Yes mate. Lots of planning and thoughts going on in the back ground also. Making a list of things that need to be finalised and checked before chassis works begins.
Hopefully some more progress over the weekend and In to next week

    Sunday Update

    Todays update:
    More floor cutting
    Rear tubs removed
A little more bracing for when lifting the body now the rest has been cut out
    Rear Arches off.
Cleaned up around the plasma cut lines a tad.
Started to think out some engine and box positioners.

Hopefully in the evenings this week I will start looking at ladder bar position on axle and start to get the brackets fitting as best they can.
    And continue with engine/box fixture.

Yesterday John cut up the old scrap chassis and started taking off the rear wings, I could finish this today with more bracing on the body.

Tomorrow John will be collecting the new fiber glass front! So that’s another exciting part
    for the recipe!

    Untill then, enjoy!

I'm collecting my one off removable front today. One off you ask? We'll I could have had a standard devon flip front made but mine has a completely smoothed grill section. plus keeping it dorset it been modified to take the smaller 5" lights instead of the 7s
Photos will be posted later. Apparently it looks very cool.
