    Sunday update

A few hours with a tape measure today 🙈
Checking what length will be required for using all holes.
Ladder bar front cross member squared up with the rear axle.
Felt like a lot of today was double checking and working out.
Heading in the right direction with a few more ideas to try that I have thought of.
    It’s all progress!

Saturday - the ice cold workshop!

Winter is certainly here and the workshop was cold today.
Today there was a little bit of steering action to test for some clearance.
Next up was to start trimming down and positioning the rear cross member.
    Measure twice cut once.
I had an idea where I wanted the cross member to be positioned, running ladder bars there’s obviously going to be some clearance issues.
I previously have bench tested the ladder bars in there travel and marked out the distance of movement at the point that will be closest to this crossmember, this is with the bars in there up most position using slightly more suspension travel than actually possible.
I wasn’t sure if this is how people do this but I think it’s accurate, Some clearance channels will likely be added to this cross member, wanting these as small as possible I raised the cross member up a tad in the car. the main rails to the front and rear will inferlock in to this member, and the main hoop will be connected to this.
I have removed some small body bracing to allow for the new parts to go in to place but tacked the body to a fixture for that crossmember too. No movment occurred when removing the bracing so that is defiantly a plus!

The last week has been very cold and full of lurgy!
The yard is still snowed as you can see!
During the week I popped over for a quick recess of the cross member to give clearance when / if the ladder bar needs to be in the top hole.
Back today. Still chilly! And a start on eyeing up steering box positions and chassis rail runs.

    Latest update

Little update for the week just gone.
On to rear section and it’s now it’s time to tack on some shock absorber brackets to set the rear kick up height.
Chiltern motorsport adjustable shock brackets were the way to go, self explanatory really but allows you to keep the recommended shock ride height in place with the correct spring, then allowing to adjust the ride height of the car on the adjustment holes, thus still maintaining correct shock zone.
Some fake shocks were made 🤣 this allows me to build the rear kick up as the fake shocks are made at the recommended height that the shock should be when running.

The Ladder bar cross member also needs attaching in a few points to the main chassis, this was a separate part that I made a fixture for to have the middle hole in what’s thought to be a resonable location, I’ve notched some 1 5/8 3mm tube to slide on to the LB cross member and links to the main rail I will tripple check this before welding 🤣 other connectors will be made soon.

    Mom/Tues Update

Some progress from yesterday and this evening. We got the rear kick up in and done some welding.
Tigs a bit messy unfortunately. no bench welding, this is funny angles, weird body shapes and 10 elbows needed!

    11 weeks

Although the research started long ago for things I hadn’t done before, So far it’s 11 Weeks in since I started making the front axle fixture for the jig.

This is not a full time build just most Sundays and a couple of hours in the week after work.

Many more hours to go I’m sure but so far so good 😁
