no, i'm assuming it's made in china. it came from the netherlands on ebay though. £180 inc' p&p plus the £55 and odd i paid parcelfarce for duties and vat this end. bargain i thought as it's nice with decent welding.

the side brackets on the new rad' needed a trim and we ended up removing the tube crossmember between the front of the frame rails. now it's just fine trimming inside the flip front where the reinforcing is glassed in to clear the top tank. it's getting there.

the new big boy ally rad for the ute needs to lay back more to fit in the grill shell area of the flip front so drastic action was called for. the 'short' p5/6 rover pump is now just over an inch shorter and a plan is in place to sort the pulley with a new 'intermediate' section. the fan/pulley mounting ally bit was pulled off of the shaft with some added heat and turned down to basically a flange on a tube that is now pressed back on backwards. i'll add pics once it's done but suffice to say the rad will fit once the previously mentioned reinforcing ribs are tweaked for clearance. the extra lay back of the rad has nearly done it but not quite.

ps if anyone needs their rover water pump shortening an inch we can do that for you.

today there was bad news and then good news re the cresta. first i got a letter from dvla asking for pictures that because of it's 'customised' condition won't be happening. without the pics they can't issue a v5c logbook, doh! later in the day i got a message from a previous keeper who the new screen came from saying he'd found the v5c logbook, result. so i'll have to pop back to alkatraz and collect it asap so i can change it to my name.

I've always used collin for rads. This one is in my old tinsel town hustler. Perfect fit in between the chassis rails. The best thing was. It would keep that tuned 378ci sbc cool, even with no ventilation in the flip front..Name: IMG-20210520-WA0000.jpeg

today was more trimming here and sanding there on the rad' brackets and flip front reinforcing. also the front corner each side of the top tank needed trimming off. the flip front now clears, just. i'll sort any extra brackets needed and pop to my mate and he'll tig them on and plate the corners of the top tank for me.

today the rad' trimming and flip front sanding came to an end. when the front is clipped down tight the rad will still move forwards and side to side a little so we marked where the top and bottom brackets will be and it's ready to go to have all the bits tig welded in place...... finally, lol. once done we'll sort the hoses, although it looks like the top hose will work with it's fan sensor in the middle and the bottom one may only need a longer 'hard' pipe in a vertical join which is good. w ecan finish the pulley adaption and get the belt back on next and refit the flip front stays. oh, and refit the grill in the opening and the trans' cooler too. the truck's going to need a good wash and polish when it's done as it's covered in fibreglass dust from inside the front, lol.

I’ve gotta ask mate, would an ally pop rad built for the pop grills have been cheaper than buying a rad that isn’t right and modifying it costs of labour for the customer ect and ease of fitment? Fair play but have to ask

well the chevy rad' was 1/3 the price of the serck's pop v8 one. also as it's as much a hobby as work the labour isn't what it would be elsewhere. plus it's teaching my kids new stuff all the time so.....

i took the rad' to my mate, but he had to go and collect his son so couldn't do it today. he's getting it done tomorrow though so no worries. he's asked if i want to build his twin turbo coyote 5.0 engine he's mid mounting in a mk1 transit. as long as there's a manual for torque settings and timing marks i don't see why not.
