Bit of a hard one too answer, but basically any moving part, bearings and crown wheel and pinion are the first to be noticeable. Don't rule out the incorrect oil as it's LSD specific
Is it one that's become noisy,or have you just bought a Pop with a Jag irs LSD ?
What kind of a noise have you got, and when?

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.
If it makes a noise when moving, even slowly, then it's probably low or out of fluid. Mine did when we moved it around during a workshop move (50yds) but once filled with the correct fluid for an LSD it was fine.
