re the clutch i've had success 'back bleeding'. basically i use a garden weed sprayer with the 'gun' removed. add brake fluid to the sprayer and push the hose onto the bleed nipple, crack the nipple and pump the fluid in. when the bubbles stop in the master cylinder (yes it's messy, lol) you're done.

As Tim said, stroll out there cuppa in hand, think it through, jot down a few bits to get, things too alter and walk back in, sometimes it's time needed too think things through rather than get the win every time

Yes I have been a bit grumpy over this project lately.
Update time, I had to redo the steering support, all pukka now, steering nice and light with car back on all fours.
Managed to fire up the engine, coughed and spat through bike carbs, but I wasnt going to let it warm up with no cooling system. I saw good oil pressure, all of which gave me some relief. And I heard the exhaust note, which I didn't like, so I'll be fitting another silencer to bring the volume down a bit.
Meanwhile Ive been progressing with brakelines, just one delivery of braided flexi hoses and I should have a complete system ready for fluid.
Today I refitted the front panel, front wings, and running boards.
With the Morris back down on its own wheels, the front panel is too close to the ground, I'm going to trim it so that it has similar ground clearance to the Ruby, as this rarely scrapes.
Also you can see how the starter handle hole on the front panel is now 5" lower than where it originally was (check hole in crossmember). 3" channel of body plus front wings etc mounted differently.
I felt that the front wings were a bit wobbly with everything bolted up, so now I'm making another mount from front wings to body, that should toughen it up a bit.

Well, Thursday was the first time this year that I felt hot in the garage and had to remove some of the layers worn in the winter!
Progress has been slowed by various factors, including:
She still loves to get in the Ruby and go for a "drive".
Its hard to get on with the project when this little cutie is here!
But there has been some progress.
I really thought that the front wings and front panel were in great shape, and just needed prep and paint.
They were a bit wobbly when mounted though so I put some more metal in where there were a couple of splits in the flanges, and made some extra mounting points, much better now.
But there was a misalignment which is barely noticeable in the pics....
...but definitely in need of improvement.
Also I found the original wing side supports
But due to the changes they didnt now fit
So I cut them in half and welded the ends in place - this also gets rid of the ugly "bolt through the wing" type attachment. Just need to make a connecting piece up.
Back to the front panel, it ended up like his today
5 more cutting discs used, including one which got far too near my thumb today.

With previous projects Ive always been happy with my attempts to cover running boards with rubber, but this time it just didnt work due to the double curvature. So now I ve got a nasty mess of glue to remove, and I'm going to use running board treads, which means I have to bodywork the running boards instead of hiding all those imperfections under the rubber.
I tried mocking up where the 5/8" thick treads will go with masking tape, and preferred this option
The front wings have been treated with rust converter, and then painted with a roller, black gloss underneath, grey primer topside.
To bodywork the wings and front panel I've bolted them back on to the car. Ive bashed with a hammer wherever it seemed appropriate and have plenty of filling and sanding ahead.
Must dig through my pipe hoses and connect the hoover to the sander.

Yes Robert, I do like the lines of the little Morris.
I kept the wings bolted onto the car for sanding initially, easier to sand something which isn't wobbling about.
But there were a few bits I couldn't get to so now I've mounted them on makeshift stands.
Today was a beautiful day, ideal for spraying - but would the epoxy primer arrive?
I got everything as ready as I could, then sat down to rest...3 minutes later the courier arrived with the paint, perfect timing!
Today also felt good because I booked some campsites for holidays/hot rod shows, with the weather today it really felt like summer is coming.
With the primer on, it shows up the next round of imperfections to deal with before shiny top coat.
Also Ive ordered the bits needed to complete the exhaust from Custom Chrome in Nuneaton, and been thinking about the running boards (again), Ive decided to have another go with the fluted rubber matting.

Purple was my favourite colour, but I'm having a rest from it on this one. Plan is to base it on the original Morris 8 two tone design

To sand the internal curve of the front panel, I used the old "wrap yer wet n dry around a bit of radiator hose" trick.
Then, today, i got up early, paid newham council £1.67 to park the Ruby out on the street, then moved the Morris to the other side of the garage where i covered it up to prevent any overspray. I de dusted the garage (carpet tiles on floor so less tendency for dust to blow up) and then got ready to spray the top coat. Well despite cleaning thoroughly and using a tack cloth I got some little holes in the paint, it happens sometimes, so after just 2 coats it obviously needed fixing so I saved the paint (its not cheap these days) for another day.
Bottom pic looks pretty good but pic 3 here shows the imperfections.
On reflection (pun not intended), I did use a hot air gun on the panels to try and warm them up a bit. I guess it must have blown tiny bits of something onto the prepared surface.
I'll try again another day.

do you use a couple of drops of anti fish eye in each gun full of paint mate? also if they're the only sort of issue and you intend applying more coats i always rub them while wet in a little circle. it fills the dip and further coats level it out enough that it disappears during the flat and polish at the end. now it's dry though get a match stick dipped in the paint to fill the holes then you wont need to sand a big patch back tp primer to get it flat for the next coats.
