if you'll be using a servo it should be ok. if not you need 6:1 minimum. a smaller master will give more pedal travel but more 'power' and feel, vice versa with a larger master.

Just had a measure and pedal to bulkhead gives 2.25 inches of forward movement at master cylinder end

The wilwood and tilton mc's state 1.5 inch of travel. It looks like i can shorten the mc lever by about an inch as there is a cross bolt further down so would give more like 5.5 to 1 and i would still get 1.5 plus of travel.

I am going to have to mod the mc mount to suit bolt holes anyway.

Try to get at least 6:1 ratio,I know from my own experiences that you may well be disappointed.
I have 6:1 on mine, had to change the pedal arrangement to get that, and I still needed to fit a servo, which was a pain to do.

So after spending yesterday pulling, shoving, swearing, measuring, more swearing. I have finally decided that the Rover V8 4.6 aint going to fit.

So today been to a mates and bought a Jag 4.2 straight 6. That way will be able to keep original steering setup and stay in the 8 points bracket. Shame woulda loved to hear the burble of a V8, have put up with the growl of a 6 pot.

So all Rover bits being sold see ad in parts section.

Happy to discuss price before i put on Eblag.

Should have bought a 289 or 302 ford V8, much smaller than a Rover. They are awkward shaped V8's.

Yeah I know, but dont know much about yank motors. Still made me bed, now gotta lay in it.

Still the Jag is good for 180 horses. Should be ok in a 1100kg car.

It may be the better option in the long term with possible restrictions on car use.

And Chevy's are short. Jag motors are nice though, and will compliment the Britishness of the AC. Needs English Racing Wheels, not American!

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.

no they're all 90 degree v8's. ford v6's are 60 degree which is probably where your mix up came from.

Shame your plans had to change, but I agree that the jag suits the "British-ness".
All the best with selling on the Rover bits.
Will the jag engine be having a manual or an auto?
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt",
but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!

Cheers, i tried but it would not go in the space available.

So yes jag engine is going to have an auto.

At least all the running gear will be jag. Front and rear discs as well.

re the 'don't know much about yank motors' comment, rover v8's are/were buick v8's. also the smallblock ford/chevy/mopar etc v8's are exactly the same to rebuild as a rover apart from one thing, they're 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of a rover to build. good luck with the jag option though.

yes but i meant they are all the same re rebuilding..... except the price. rovers are much more expensive. also small ford and small chevy are physically smaller than a rover.

Jag engine and gear box arrived today.

Fell ar5e ove apex on the propshaft laying on the floor.

Jag engine looking good. Needs a detailing, and possible water pump. Big valve head so better than expected.

Been busy on house for a few days or so

Tidied up garage after engine and box collected.

Placed jag lump in chassis a mocked up height on my trolley, needs to go backwards about 7 inches. Marked up bulkhead where it needs trimming away.

Going to pull head off tommorow to make sure all good, cams looking allgood with no wear. Allways like to check it out, gasket set only ?40 so worth making sure.

After a bit of research this straight port big valve engine is allegedly 240 gee gees.

I will get there in the end.
