Just a dumb Q. Are the input shafts the same on the jag/BMW box, or will they altering to fit Rover engine.?
Cheers

Small block 350 Chevy at last! Yep shoulda done it sooner.
Gotta have fun in my old ageeven if I am a grumpy very Ol git.
input shaft relates to torque converter surely?
Ive never known anyone to change them in this swap
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt",
but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!
Cheers here's hoping something comes up.
Looks like I've found a gearbox GM180 with all the selector etc but engine end bits missing so still looking for drive plates/torque convertor etc.

Well been let down by fella with gm180.
So after a bit more investigation and advice from you guys now going zf route. Got a bell housing, torque convertor and all the bits to bolt up, all matching from same motor, so shim should be OK.
Now to find gear box. Loads about but most are a long way away.
Guy I got bits off is very local to me and i did not know he was around. He has so many rover v8 engine boxes and all bits to suit.
If anyone on Kent that needs anything I'll pas on his details to you. Very reasonable to, 90 quid the lot.
Cheers

Down garage today, started to get ready for the 6pot to come out. Nose off, rad out and all mounts undone.
Will probably have lose the steering box for the rover to go in, will wait and see when trial fit engine.
I hope to use the MK2 Jag front clip and if so I won't need the steering box anyway.
Slowly slowly cos I'm old and me back hurts.

So been down garage today after a couple of weeks away and a dose of covid on return (knackered me). tried engine in the bay and dont fit, starter hits steering box, bellhousing hitting bulkhead cos cant get past steering box (although this may be coming out if I can get Mk2 jag front end on.
So started taking off wings to get to inner wings, next off, will give me more space to fiddle.

As a general rule you want the engine as far back as possible. Bit hard to tell from the pics but the brake master is well forward and the bellhousing forward of that. Looks like the bulkhead needs attention.

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.
And so the jigsaw begins, I'm sure it fits, it's just finding howGood luck Gary.
