Thanks Chaps, I'm a bit knackered this morning - yesterday was a bit of a marathon session. I'm delivering it tonight so hopefully it will work faultlessly.

It will be back on this thread in the future for the smaller jobs that still need doing on it, but Andy can enjoy it for now & I can have a rest!

    Tim,

I've got Andy Carters flip front coming in next

Well Andy got his car back tonight, it all drove well apart from on overrun the gearbox can sometimes clunk quite hard through the rear axle - there does not appear to be any 'freewheeling' if that makes sense.

Andy said it did this before I got it though it does not do it if just cruising around at lower speeds.

I'm wondering if the converter is too tight for the weight of the car - its probably the std rover one with a stall speed of approx 1200rpm - it probably could do with a looser one??? Gearboxes are a dark art to me so I'm not sure but the engine seems very joined up to the rear end - like a manual car if that makes sense? Maybe the bands need adjusting (if there are bands on a GM180?)

anyway - apart from that it was faultless - keeping a good temp even though the outside temps were showing 30 degrees on my car gauge.

Videos were asked for so here are some.

Andy taking it out for his first drive

    And returning from that drive

And me delivering it back to him, see his grin I had to blip the throttle a bit as it was on open headers

Andy is deighted, the new steering wheel is fatter so he finds it so much nicer to drive with, and the grin on his face when he could steer it with one hand on the 8 ball was priceless It made all the hard work worthwhile.

Another video of Andy driving it.

This is brilliant, well done Mark! I've been following this thread and saw the car at the weekend, most of your hard work is hidden but the fact the car got there is all down to you. You've done what few would do by giving up so much time for no financial gain and put all who worked on it previously to shame. Well done again, hope you had a few beers to celebrate!

    thanks Ricky, agreed John.

Still jobs to do on it. One of which is this windscreen surround, kindly donated by another rodder - Paul Fairall.

Whick is now rubbed down and painted in epoxy primer.

The next project at Blackpop Towers is a smaller one, ex 3 x Top Fuel champion Andy Carter's flip front is in for modifications. I guess I'd probably best start a new thread for this one though.

Shifts are fine kev, it's just when lifting the throttle at speed it feels like the gearbox has grabbed the prop momentarily so the UJ's bang hard. It does it at lower speeds sometimes but no-where near as harshly.

    Asbo,

    No secret, it's on Facebook.

It was blown but now it's downgraded to a single carb, still got the Lenco but it's being rebuilt to make it more streetable.
