didn't people used to adapt the backplates to fit vw beetle wheel cylinders to pop's?

You could add tabs to the brake shoes rather than have longer pistons.

In the 1960`s Formula 2 stock car drivers adapted complete 105E backplates and drums to 103E stub axles.
I think the backplate centre hole had to be opened up slightly as did the backplate bolt mounting holes. The drums were a case of swapping bearings...
A friend had them in his garage,they were on his pop front he swapped drums to discs. Think they are anglia 105e
