    SBC oil pressure

    Afternoon all

What oil pressure should i realistically be looking for on a mild SBc please 15/20 psi at idle or higher?

    45psi at 3500?
Clocks not connected so jury rigging a mecahnical just to fire up and then fitting all new gauges once I know what I have going on

    TIA

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.

I'd be happy enough with the pressures you mentioned. It doesn't require crazy pressures and some say too much is worse than being a bit under. None is obviously bad! You can put GTX in it and get bigger readings, but does that mean anything?

I've had those same figures out of a number of stock SBC over the years, perfectly fine.

I get 55-60 psi hot at 2000+ rpm.
Idle (hot off a motorway run) approx 23psi, std hot idle (town) about 30psi.

Cold I have to be careful as it will go to 75psi at 3000rpm untill the oil thins.

I'm running a std Melling pump that I blueprinted and smoothed out the ports and fitted a GM yellow spring that ups the pressure at higher rpm by 10psi.
