    Michel Thiefine

For those that went on any of the Euronats trips up to 10 years ago may remember the name, as he was the French ESRA rep & was also a regular visitor to the Supernats & other UK events, driving his 34 Coupe.

Sadly he passed away 10 years after suffering from cancer & his daughter Claire & wife Sylvie have kept & maintained the car in his memory. They decided to hold a celebration of his life this as it was the 10th anniversary of his passing & as well as members of his car club, The Roadrunners based in the Le Mans area, they invited some of the ESRA members that knew him. The event was this past weekend in Avoise which was the site of the French ESRA event in 2016. Myself, Richard Black, Grahame "Whiff" & Carol Smith & Frank & Sandra Ogden attended as well as Petra Imfeld & Alex Bieli from Switzerland. A few others were invited but were unable to attend, but it was mainly members of the Roadrunners there.

A full day & a half of events were planned, including a visit to the garage where he worked on his car run by a friend & member of his car club & a dinner at the hall at the campsite, plus a visit to a Cars & Coffee meeting in Le Mans. The weather, as it was here I understand, wasn't too kind but the sun did shine occasionally & overall it was a nice tribute to a very well liked man.

As part of the decoration of the hall for the event, lots of photos were stuck on the walls for people to look at & remember him in his element, enjoying rods. Amongst them were the ones here that his wife Sylvie insisted I took back with me as a momento. There are some familiar faces amongst them, see who you can spot. The last one is particularly poignant as Andy Miles was a very good friend of his & much-missed by all of us, particularly the ESRA members. The less said about the fella with him the better, eh?

The UK contingent were right at the back on the left, you can just make out Richard Black.

The workshop was crammed with parts, automobilia & more unfinished projects than you could shake a stick at. Michel used to spend a lot of time here working on his cars & his daughter Claire still does whenever the coup needs work.

Apart from the imclement weather it was a good trip (750 smiles) great meeting with Sylvie, Claire, Allen, John Luc et al after so long!
On the way back we briefly meet up with Eddy who showed us a stash of rod fodder coming up for sale soon. Collection includes 33 Boydster, 34 5w, 35 cabriolet and more, hope I can afford one of them! Guess which one?Name: 20240907_213129.jpeg
