    Painted rocker covers

2 years ago, I had my alloy rocker covers powder coated in 'Chrome' finish.
They now look bloody awful with spots over most of both them.
I do have the capability and experience to paint them myself but have a question
about that. Most steel rocker covers come as painted rather than powder coated
but what paint would be suitable? I was thinking either cellulose or acrylic?
Would either be up to withstanding the temperatures? (Essex V6)
Any info would be most welcome.
    Thanks.

Langy always used too just paint stuff with normal 2k paint after priming with epoxy primer as it would take upto 200°C did my rockers and manifold that way 20230910_133205.jpeg

Thanks for that but I don't really want to go down the 2pack route due to the toxic nature
of the product and I no-longer have the air-fed mask etc. to do it hence the question on
    the other types.

You could try cellulose and see how it stands up. Or, knowing that 2k works and survives you could DIY it with one of the 'boil in the bag' masks, or just get it squirted on by someone for a few beers? ( and doing the sanding prep yourself?).

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.

you can get 2k rattle cans these days. they have a button on the bottom of the can, you just press it in to mix the hardener with the paint and shake as normal. you won't need a full respirator mask, just a well ventilated area. the issues with 2k paint are the same as everything else 'bad'. that's prolonged exposure, so a couple of rattle cans aren't going to kill you if you use a cheap spray mask and you're not doing it every day.

If you don't mind satin or gloss black, Simoniz Tough Satin/Gloss Blacks are very good, with a high solids content. They even branded it as an engine paint for a while but that just confused things. Or VHT do high temp paints.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may decide to polish them yet but I need to look at all the options first.

if you're not polisher by nature a brushed finish just needs a quick rub with a scotchbrite pad now and again, lol.
