1955 Ford Popular (V8pop's V8pop) Offers around £14500
It's with a heavy heart that I'm selling V8pop's V8pop after a 19 year build (fully documented on the forum with well over a million views).
It's a 1955 103e Popular with V5C registered in my name with a 3528cc Rover V8 engine.
It's a fully boxed original chassis Z'ed both ends, with a Volvo 244 rear axle fitted via 4 bar and panhard rod with coilovers. The front end is standard Pop I beam also on 4 bar with panhard rod and coilovers, fitted with Volvo hubs and discs, there's a brand new classic Mini steering rack fitting to the I beam with a sliding link.
The Rover V8 engine has been re-bored plus 20 thou with 3 new liners added, new plus 20 thou pistons and rings were fitted. The Crankshaft has been re-ground minus 10 thou fitted with new mains and big end bearings. It has a new Viper Hurricane cam with new bearings, cam followers and all new pre loaded Rocker gear. New water pump and starter motor have also been fitted. The head's have been gas flowed and fitted with new valves and springs. Carbs fully re-built with bigger needles all suitable for ethanol, as is the entire fuel system. This is fitted with a five speed LT77 manual gearbox. As a by the way it's still running in, so no mad test drives I'm afraid as I've not gone over 2500 RPM yet, but it feels quite strong and rearing to go!
New 4 pot front calipers have been fitted with a new non servo master cylinder, that said there is space to fit a servo version.
The Pop's wired with a Rebel Wiring Kit modified for flashing brake lamp indicators, a third brake lamp (V8pop), an interior courtesy lamp and a full set of Dolphin gauges.
The bodywork has been modified to include a top hinged boot lid, sculptured sills, frenched rear lamps, gloves box, louvered bonnet side panels and a lift off one piece bonnet. It's all painted in matt beige with a brand new laminated windscreen, window seals and channels. I've re-trimmed the roof insert with beige exterior waterproof leathercloth and new wadding and sealing rubber.
I've made and fitted a new headlining with new hand made sun visors, re-trimmed the original front seats and the home made rear seat in doeskin leathercloth, these are fitted with seatbelts. I've made new trim panels and trimmed them in doeskin leathercloth to match the seats and fitted new door furniture inside. The tunnel and gearbox cover are also trimmed in doeskin leathercloth to match with gearstick and handbrake gators. I've fitted rubber mats, rubber bottom seal and fur-flex draft excluders. I've also re-trimmed the hand made steering wheel in doeskin leathercloth to match.
There's probably loads more I could say but hopefully this will give you a taster, please ask if there's anything else you would like to know.
The NSRA insurance valuation before the steering rack was fitted was £20K so I consider offers around £14500 to be fair.
Cheers Tim W
