    Mustang 2 IFS brake improvements.

    Hi Guys,

Recently fitted a brand new CPP Mustang 2 IFS with standard 11'' vented disk brakes to my 55 F100 but would like to improve the stopping power if possible...its ok but does not inspire much confidence tbh.

The servo and MC are relatively new and I have a solid pedal so don't think air is an issue.

Any suggestions where to start please guys?

What's the master cylinder diameter and the pedal ratio?

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.

Jack all 4 wheels up ,or at least one on front and rear and try to turn them whilst someone keeps the brake pedal down. Somethimes there is a valve in the system which can trip and prevent either front or rear working

measure from pedal pivot to pedal pad, then measure pedal pivot to master cylinder clevis pivot. divide the first by the second to get pedal ratio.
if the pedal's hard either the servo's u/s or the master cylinder's too large a bore size. a smaller bore master will give more travel but a better feel and more 'power'.
to check the servo, first pull the vacuum hose and check there actually is vacuum. if not the hose could be collapsed causing a blockage. if there's vacuum press on the pedal with the engine running to check travel. turn off engine and repeatedly pump pedal, it should get progressively harder with less travel each time. if there's no difference between engine running and engine off it sounds like the servo's u/s.
    hope that all makes sense,
    neil.

also rally design can supply any of the very comprehensive wilwood brake kits available. the mustang 2 upgrades go much further than you will ever need so there'll be something to suit i'm sure.
