    Cheap battery charger

Just seen elsewhere that Lidi have a motoring promotion on 12th Jan of various items, including a battery charger. This charger has been described, not by Lidi, as "not a Ctech, but just as good" by someone who's had successful use of one for a few years. Sounds like a decent punt if you're in need of a charger? Cheap adblu too, whatever that stuff is. If its anything like redbull it'll taste disgusting imo.

I have bought several of these Lidl Ultimate speed branded chargers over the years as they have improved them. Great value with 3 year warranty, Good spec and never had any problems with them.

    Crazy value! Wow!

Compared to my Ctech mvs 7 it's only 5a v 7a and doesn't have a 'supply' mode (great for testing a rewire), but it appears to have a battery tender / maintainer mode (if my interpretation is correct, as its not explicit). Will be having one of those for that reason alone!

I did buy a expensive CTEK charger for my Harley but have to say I prefer the cheap Lidl TUV approved one. The Lidl one charges and trickle charges the Yuasa 5000 640 CCA battery in my car without paying the brand tax.

Lidl's 3-year warranty is good if something goes wrong in the first few months - they replaced one of their 240v angle grinders when it expired in a couple of weeks - but they seriously depreciate the refund value over time to the point where it's pretty useless in my opinion. I had something else fail after a couple of years and as I recall I would have had to ship it to their repair centre (in Europe I think) for test/review so basically wasn't worth the effort or expense, and think it would have been for a fraction of the full price.

Their stuff is generally pretty good if you factor in the price, and when it works is definitely good value. I mentioned their 240v angle grinders and still have two or three that have served me well, but I have avoided their cordless range of tools as I already have 18v DeWalt stuff.
