    FMX Gearbox

I wonder if I could get a bit of advice from the Auto box experts please, I have a Ford FMX auto box behind my 289 small block and it has a leak from the gear selector shaft, it would appear a stripdown of the box is required to sort this out and as auto boxes are one of lifes great mysteries to me I dont really want to get involved with it. I waqs wondering if there was a more modern alternative box which would be a straight fit. The crazy thing is the box works fine its just this leak that is winding me up. Any advice would be welcomed, thanks in advance.

you can drop the valve body in the car to access the selector shaft and it's seal. it's when you split the valve body and the majic (i mean ball bearings etc, lol) fall out you've got trouble. it's not hard, just be methodical. oh and replace the filter while it's out.
