Update from Doug's shed...

Update from my shed - some may know of Andy Field's old truck from 12 years ago - after sitting dormant for many years, I bought it and its now undergoing rebuild here in north Aberdeenshire. (pic of how it was and how it is now...)

I bought the shed in 2017, 6m wide, 9m long and about 4.5m high. It was a standard order BUT I changed it so that instead of 2 single car entry doors I chose to have 1 only. Then the side walk-in door was moved to the front and did away with the window (for security). Also there is a massive main beam which should be half way in but I got it moved 1m forward to give room for a ramp. The walls are 60mm thick. I didn't get round to getting planning permission because the shed is not overlooked by any houses. Now that 5 years has past apparently it's now exempt! You can't really tell from the pic but the ramp is a short one, 3.6m instead of 4.5. All my cars are short-asses (100e, '53 Anglia(s)) so it's a VERY tight squeeze to get the truck on as it's got a considerably longer wheelbase c/w standard - the tyres do sit on the ramp but they stick out front and back. This angled pic shows the roof and cross beams better...

12 years ago?!! It was ac onstant presense in my life for awhile.

Is the Nankang from near to London? I remember a similar truck to the Mankeymobile turning up at Krispy Kremes after Andy debut there.

Of course Andys one has one MAJOR difference to all the others

The Nankang Truck was built by a guy called Clayton Kinsell (aka Kina) as on the fuel can. He comes from the Tamworth area. Here is an article that I wrote about the truck in 2015.

Hi Geoff - I was told the Manky (mine) was the inspiration for the Nankang one. They are certainly similar in appearance but mine has a Valley Gas SS scratch built chassis so only the cab and front axle & suspension remain of the original '53 Anglia, hence Andy Field (original owner) put it through the old SVA with much assistance from Kev R.

It wears its 'Q' with pride!
