On page 4,item no 40 (by SJB) 4th pic down, thats me preparing to unload my rail for the Airport show, in the background is my Squire towcar. I don't look a day older today!

On pg 7, item 66 , we're into the Chelmsford film shows which I was closely involved with organising, and Mopar has posted some hand drawn adverts for these evenings. These were each done by different club members, and photocopied at Americar for distributing. I know the last one was drawn by me, and the first if memory serves was done by Keith Harvie, and the other may have been done by Robin (.?.) but I cannot be sure.

On pg 11, item 103, in the 4th photo, that Corsair with an Eastern cruisers sticker was mine, stock exterior, breathed on motor; a number of club members had been involved with Curtis Clarks two films, and we received invites to the premier of Cruising. Roger Sinclair, my wife Lorraine(who was 8 months pregnant) and I set off for the premier, and at a rate of knots in the outside lane of the A12 the engine decided to let go, sending shrapnel through the bonnet. It was tipping with rain, miles from anywhere, and Roger took one look at Lorraine and boldly announced he would go for help. Needless to say we didn't make the filmshow...
my my its Mr B, i presume you can relate to these pics then in the Chelmsford Halifax window thats you on the right next to Roger i believe (just in case you didnt know!!), sure that was your dragster, was it the same one as the red Blast it one mentioned earlier?

Yes, thats me on the right, Roger S. to the left. The rail in this pic had a blown Daimler in it, and had previously had a blown 2.5 straight 6 Ford, and its still around, having run in the 90s as Dirty Harry and early 00s as Classy chassis, but its not the Blast Off car( which was rearengined) seen in the Airport show pic; That name came from sponsorship from a windscreen co. and that car ran a blown 1500 Ford.

I have a mate who owns 26 Capris (dont ask ) and one of the cars has a Jag IRS I think it could be this one? I will try to get hold of him and take a picture.

Continuing with the southend airport aviation way shows we now move onto the 81 show held from the 17th to the 20th of april.

The first 2 pics show that Brian Kirbys Prisoner T was there again, this was origionally the Church Brothers T from the early 70s, rumour has it this T is sitting in a garage somewhere in Southend, then the other 3 pics show Mr Dodds 27 litre merlin Rolls Royce (spitfire aeoroplane engine) powered creation, he had to cover the grille as a certain top marque manufacturer got the hump about his choice of grille!!, i think this car still exists, i know its been to Spain for a while, anyone know the latest?

    enjoy.......

    more to come if interest.....

It would be interesting to no what happened to it,i no its not everyones cup of T but alot of work must of gone into this car.Its amazing to think i see the car over a 15? year period in three completly differant places each time the car looking the same.Did it servive when the Skatepark shutdown?????
Thinking about i always thought it must be an old Custom car from the 70s but was this Capri ever finished in the first place???as no one seams to remember it.
There was a few wildly Customised Capris back in the day like "White Heat" and "Venem" or though that one was not from the Southend area.

    The weir

Heres 4 pics redmad emailed me for the thread a while ago, there all from the weir, ken reckons in the nineties, thats all i really know, few cars here to remember though.....

I can id a few of the cars so here goes, basing my findings on the 1st pic...... back row the green 34 had a blown flattie which i think was pretty unique back then, belonged to Mark Spooner his brother had an injected black daimler hemi powered willys, i think they both still have the cars & very nice they are to, i used to be heavily involved in a Cortina mk2 Club & Mark Spooner was a member, prior to the 34 he had a bright orange 2 door daimler V8 Mk2 which ended up round a tree!!, ...Anyway one Sunday before i was aware of the cars fate i was casually looking round the Rettenden breakers (an almost weekly habit!) & laying on the floor i found a load of cut up Mk2 panels-in bright orange, i recognised what car they were from instantly, amongst it was a nearly new headlamp panel which i bought for 2 quid !!....Moving on the white T bucket is the t time one which I think is still about & The turquoise model a van in the back row belonged to bruce in the Chelmsford club, think thats still in his garage...The orchid coloured 57 with the white roof centre right is Pete Robbins which he still has but theres no sign of redmad Ken perhaps he had had to make a a mad dash (get it!) after he had realised he had left the sandwiches at home??...............

Thats about all i know, its up to you lot now but whats the blue car bottom right?, looks interesting......

    cheers for the pics Ken...
