Is there a reason for the u-joints being out of phase?

hi ross, only so they're both in the same position really. i had them like a propshaft first off but where the pinch bolts go it made it look all goofy. i know you cant see it once the headers are fitted and if they did left and right handed uj's (as far as position of the pinch bolts) i'd have been happier but hey ho. and it's not like it'll spin like a prop' and have vibration so that's it really .

nothing done except more parts ordering today. a line lock, a fuel pump and fittings .
i'm getting to the point where i need stuff to move on but i've plenty to do before these bits arrive next week. the plan is to get the front hubs, discs and wheels on tomorrow, then off the rotisserie and fit the body saturday. sounds doable, we'll see.......

i decided i'd had enough of wet flatting and mopping a mk2 escort after about 5 hours today so fitted my hubs, discs and wheels. my new wheel nuts are closed end so i had to remove the studs and cut 1/4" off of them all . then i had to swap the 2 steering links as one's 1/4" longer and i had them the wrong way round so there wasn't enough adjustment on one to set the steering up . lastly i unbolted it from the rotisserie and its back on its wheels, woohoo!

cheers everyone, best day for a while on it . no steve didn't go despite my better judgement . i decided a day on the car was a better choice and do summat with her indoors tomorrow as not seen much of her lately . my tickets weren't wasted as a mate had them . got the towbar fitted to my merc' this afternoon so i can tow the anglia when it's done too.

thanks mike, i love it mate .
not much done today except a quick rub down of the remaining 'tins' ready for some gloss black tomorrow evening. i even remembered the seat base and the back of the seat to lose the worst of the 'matting' uneveness.

so 2 coats each of high build black primer and gloss black and there we are. no need for flatting between coats on this lot or afterwards for that matter. it looks just fine as it it, it's only a race car after all

cheers steve, i was going for cartoony mate so about right .
my new fuel pump arrived today, 95 gph with 1/2" fittings as i'm gonna run a 1/2" fuel line front to back so no restrictions all ready for when i build the second engine at a later date . also the line lock came too so i can plumb the brakes now.
