    Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro tyres

    Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever used Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro's on the road? I was looking at putting some on my truck, obviously they'd be matched up front with the Sportsman front specific tyres.

Being wrinkle wall tyres, they wouldn't corner brilliantly, but my truck is designed for straight lines anyway so that's not a massive issue to me. They're DOT approved and have over 6mm of tread when new, so I wouldn't imagine I'd have issues with them if I was stopped.

I guess really I'm wondering if anyone has any horror stories with them.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Probably not very relevant but they don't have a speed rating on them - which "technically" is not legal in the UK. I don't suppose it's important in real life as the cops would not realise (or care??) but just something to be aware of.

I ran the similar Hoosier quick time pro's on a big block fairlane. Towed my 17 foot caravan too, no tyre issues.

Valid point, I'll check what level of trouble that could cause. The few times I've been pulled over they've just checked the tread depth, however there's always the one time!

Bet that was a sight to see! Thank you.

Slightly relevant, according to the MT website, the tyre expands so that the circumference is 1.5" larger at 150mph! (not that I'd go that fast )

From a legal point of view, my understanding is that they are basically a cross-ply tyre or bias belted - not a steel belted radial. I found that they tramlined & to a degree the rear felt like it was steering the front ? A change to Hoosier street radials transformed the car for me.
