Another busy week out side the workshop just passed.
Today I got to the workshop for a few hours and managed to mark the tyre line and clearance line on the arch that John had got back from having some pannel beating done.
John then whipped the arch out ready for a check when the wheel is in place and put a little return on.

Working on filling the top half of the bulk head this eve. Getting there slowly. Heat marks are from me attempting to shrink some metal… not that it went that well. It will still work fine though and be all good once fully welded up!

Today I have been really busy on another car, however was eager to do something on the Austin! Managed to get the diff in for a mock up of the shafts and wheels to see if the arch radiusing was good, looks like my little home made tool worked, looks great. Still lots of work to go in to the axle ect but we’re still moving forward!

As the car is mocked up at ‘ride height’ it’s easy enough to get your desired arch gab as you know the tyre size. Made a little device to hold on the center of the axle and just rolled a pen round. That’s 2 inches, it will slightly increase due to a small return being added on the arch say 5mm maybe!
looks pretty good I think, it will have slightly more stick out of the arch with the disc on. Also a slick surface has a bit of a straighter edge to the ‘tread’ never a bad thing

This evening I pulled the top section of bulk head out and welded the infills i made on to the main section then back in for a test fit. Not too shabby at the moment.

Yes mate, will likely be some removable parts yes, it’s good to be able design it from nothing and have things exactly, within reason where you want!

Are you putting a cage in this. Is that why the bulkhead will be fixed to the chassis and not to the body..

    Excellent work going on there.
Thanks for posting, keep the pics coming please.
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt",
but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!
