Last night I used the messed up tube from the other week to see how some engine bay bars could look with similar bends, it looked like it would work, A bit of re jigging / designing and the front bars are fitting pretty well. They are notched and currently fitting ok. A Small bit of tweaking Maybe. I have made them fall to where the front cross member links the rails. These should be in soon along with the motor mounts. Then on to the front shock mounting points. Then hope it all stays level enough!

Unfortunately not a full save, I had to bend up some tube to get them to work. But a bit of scrap in to a test piece was good enough!

A good day working on the Dorset.
Front tubes are tacked in place.
Bulk head finishers on, they’re not great but there in, pic of the better one!
Motor plate had its hair cut.
Motor plate tubes started, shock mounts should also be incorporated in to this.
It’s difficult to get things bang on, there’s a few discrepancies but I’m working round it.

Motor plate tubes are in position and have a bit of weld round them. Just awaiting some tabs that I can weld to the tube and bolt the plate too.
This will mean motor can hold its self in and be in position.

I will try and get some more welding done around the cage ect in the near future.

There’s a lot more todo, still enjoying it, pressure it off making the decision to stop the mad rush for the last meeting of the year.

Front tubes now in, bar a small amount of welding when the body’s lifted, motor plate tubes are in.
    Motor plate trimmed up.
Tabs welded on for motor plate to bolt too.
Blocks and crane removed engine sits in frame on its own!
Motor appears still to be reasonably positioned in chassis!

    until next time!

Is that front pulley going to drive anything? Doesn't look OEM.

Todays update, I didn’t get as much done as I had in my head but I changed a bit of design so it took a bit longer but that’s ok,
Started to make front lower shock mounts and then work out what sort of top mount it will need with some rough cut metal.
    To be continued

Yes mate it is, I’m not to fussed, I have learnt to not get annoyed, I have left the workshop probably once or twice a bit miffed off in this whole build so can’t be too bad. No point getting stressed out about it, won’t change anything!
I’m happy as the re design is better so time well spent. Hopfully will get more progress soon but limited on time this week.

Ah, yet to be fitted. I did wonder if as a race car it might not have one.

With electric fuel/ water pumps, 2 big fans, needing lights for the class rules ect and running MSD. It’s really recommended! Along with click the charger on as soon as you get back from a run to boost the battery back up. Also, when parked up at the workshop I’d often charge while im there.

Tricky little buggers on a tube that’s angled in and down, getting there, few hours left on them I would think.
