Thanks for doing the work on my axle.

That's a lot of work on the Minor, are you getting itso they just need to paint and assemble?
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt",
but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!

Getting there Neil, nice idea on the longer stay, I've still got the scars from my Minor days.

i've got one of those water based silver nitrate 'chrome' paint kits here to try. i've been meaning to try them for a while now and as this kit came in a deal it's time to give it a go.
the deal typically for me worked out well, i had some parts here a mate wanted and he had my old 04 c-max diesel which he'd recently taken for a swim in a flood. it was sitting lower that day as he'd just picked up a ford 302/c4 combo in the back, lol. from past experience when diesels hydraulic they bend/shorten the conrods like a concertina so there's not enough compression to fire the diesel. anyway he offered me the car and the chrome kit for the parts he wanted, result. i.m not keen on doing anything to 'modern' vehicles but i can get a low mileage engine for £220 making it a good earner so worth the trouble.
    neil.

When I looked up these kits, they were expensive......perhaps I should just send the bits I want chromed to you!

Hey, thats given me an idea.....while you've got my front axle, you might as well try it, I'll only charge you a modest sum for using my axle as a guinea pig....

we had a good couple of days and got both wings fitting nicely with decent gaps at the 'a' posts and to the bonnet.
i think...... the last job now is to take the front panel off again and secure the inner and outer parts together to stop them rattling and then refit it.

i've got to sneak my old c-max now i've got it back. it needs an engine swap after it went for a swim and dydrauliked. i've got one on the way so hopefully it shouldn't take too long.
also ian's (taxirod) morris front axle is here and needs an mgb brake conversion so some lathe work ahead.

that appears to be that then. we made 4 tabs and welded them to the inner front panel and they bolt to the outer panel.
also the 2 pieces that aren't under the dash anymore () have been remade and welded in place, the glovebox door and o/s blank panel now have something to bolt to again. no pics as you all know what a tab looks like, lol.
