I just saw the other flip front with big scoop in the "for sale" section.

So prefer the milder version in the recent thread pic then?
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt",
but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!

More progress. A lot of little fettling bits. Some welding, infill bits and bobs, hole drilling, cleco removing. Sanding, beating and refitting I’m getting somewhere.

the front section of floor and tunnel is now not held in by cleco!!!

Also as you can see I cut the flanges off the brake master cover. They looked naff, I have now bolted through the cover itself . I’ll get some rounded head or whatever for that. Saved a gram there I’m sure!

I look on with envy at the beautiful metalwork of your tunnel, floor and bulkhead. Gives me something to aspire to!

    Thanks for the kind words!

today was a late start due to being at SPRC dinner and dance with the super gas/ super comp team collecting runner up in both classes after several years out!

A little job to be ticked off was an trans access pannel, yep had to cut a hole in the tunnel! Learning from other cars it was a must, access to the cooler pipes and access to a short dipstick. once it’s in, it will blend in ok!

    Thanks mate,

Yep you guys have all seen it live! Happy for it to be in the mag certainly something to look back on!
This evening I wanted to get the dash mounted, obviously it won’t fit with the cage now so needed to trim down the edges, and then take some material out of the centre.
grinder out, few tabs welded and we are mounted. Some fettling to be had on the welds ect

Some more progress. Revisiting the dash as I wasn’t happy with the lower mount.
A Few holes welded up in the dash leaving one for an oil pressure light.
Lower centre section of the dash extended slightly and used to mount the centre of the dash on a small mounting tab from the dash bar.
You can see a View from in side the car you can see Rev counter being mocked up and the other few dials can be directly infront of me with a great view of them.
Thinking ahead I am putting a helmet on while checking these locations as sometimes a helmet can restrict your view to important things. So far so good.

    A busy day today
    Gauges mounted.
    Passenger side blank made.
Feed holes in bulk head for gauges.
    Fire pull for driver mounted.
Lower centre harness mount welded in.
    Shifter mount fully welded.
    Rev counter mount fully welded.

you can see in the pics great visibility of the gauges. Also, a good pull angle on the fire chord. Reach to the right and pull towards ya when your burning up

    No probs Tim!

Work has been continuing but just haven’t had the updates!
    So here we are.
After having the tunnel in and out a million times I soon got annoyed with it being a bit of a faff, not the end of the world but simple is good. So I took the grinder to it and added a join at the rear this means it can be easily removed with out taking out the shifter stand ect, might have to remove cable or somthing but makes things easier, a small rubber seal will sort the join.

Also I had another pair of hands with me on Thursday so got back on the front end mounting stepped the chassis down at the front to basically hold the front end in positon and still not be visable. Clecod in place at the moment. Feels really solid. This also gives some more room for the radiator.

Next was back to the boot, a little job that’s been on the list for a while was to support the rear devide for then the body gets lifted off it will be fiddly if that is a bit floppy so some light weight supports added, .8mm steel with some folds and holes.

Also at this area the devide couldn’t cover the whole rear of the car due to body removal so I have started some small infil pannels that will be bonded in at final assembly so seal the boot off as best possible due to the fuel cell.
