A nice touch Tom
Thanks Brading.
Theres a few weeks till the next outing but limited time to do things to the car.
Ive been working on an exhaust for a turbo 4 pot but will get round to making some small adjustments on the Austin soon.
First thing will be to make some changes to the fuel system. The AN fittings arrived in the week. Im going to be running a feed to each bowl from a dead head regulator.
The return system will come back when I can get hold of a bigger pump.
I?ll be taking some fuel out of it aswell as it is super rich.
Ideally, a looser converter in this car too but thats not in the budget just yet!

you'll get there mate, it did very well for first time out too
neil.
Cheers, it done very well, it’s certainly going to improve with the fuel adjustment.
In fairness it’s ticked every box that I wanted it to do this year so technically I like to think I’m ahead of the plan lol!!

It's been great too have a gasser build to follow on the forum Tom
Do you think it's a pressure or volume problem ?
Sent from my SM-A515F using NSRA mobile app
Thanks mate, I will keep the updates / development / race reports coming
It’s a volume issue due to the return as the pumps not big enough for both, and then becomes a pressure problem as the volume isn’t there to maintain the pressure!
Should see low 10s especially when a new converter is in it. That’s long term though!

Im currently bouncing between some custom exhaust fabrication on a pretty cool car in the workshop along with another turbo charged Honda boost / exhaust system so the Austin was parked, today i managed to get an hour or so on the car getting it up in the air all the wheels off ect.
Fuel system is drained and the regulator removed.
The basic regulator was mocked up and the fittings I made a good guess with I think will work ok.
Dash 8 in to the reg and a dash 6 in to each bowl on a dead head regulator.
Ill be going through everything on the car having a good look about now along with a few jobs / things that need looking in to!

Seeing as I have entered the Hot Rod Drags I figured i best get on with the bits that needed doing.
A day off the exhaust system I?m
Making at the mo to spend some time on the Austin.
Dead head regulator fitted on 2 ally spacers to pull it away from the motor plate.
Feed to regulator made
Feed to both carb bowls made
Fuel pressure take off shortened.
Carb stripped to adjust jetting
Headers removed for a clean up of an oil leak that developed at the end of Dragstalgia.
Headers re fitted.
Grabbed some fuel and tested new lines for leaks and adjusted pressure.
Gear box tunnel removed
Fire up and check for any leaks.
Monitor where oil may be coming from that was leaking luckily with the tunnel out I could see the back of the heads and traced the oil leak to the valve cover so that?s great and a simple fix.
Oil nice and hot and dumped it out. It was fresh for Dragstalgia but I figured it won?t do any harm so will get a new load in for the hot rod drags.
Inspection of the underside wiping down some misting of oil that got under the car.
Still need a better look over and nut and bolt check but mostly visually ok.
Next things to do re fill with oil
Sort gear box breather out
Nut and bolt check.
Another warm up valve check and new valve cover gaskets.
Likley to change some jets again in the carb aswell.
Some other odds and sods too
Let?s hope for some dry weather for the Hot Rod Drags.
We should now be able to see a more stable run with good fuelling from start to finish.

I’ve ended up swapping the pump out for my new spare as wasn’t convinced it was in good shape. Also the fittings in and out of the pump were unbelievably small. They came fitted in the pump and I never checked I just tightened them up!
In to the lathe to carry out some adjustments and fit the spare pump I had that looked a lot more like a Holley genuine pump over a possible china copy.
I have a feeling my return system would have worked had I of noticed this before!!!
Gearbox pan bolts replaced as I lost one somehere last meeting so just replaced them all with washers ect.
new gear box breather pipe rigged up to test.
pumped some more grease in to the front suspension as now it’s all been used ect
rigged up an air filter on the carb too as some stones weee firing at me on the return road and if there in the scoop there’s one way and that’s in to the carb.
I’ve checked the shifter cable for adjustment too as it was new I figured it wouldn’t hurt to check it.
gear box tunnel is back in now.
A few bits left to do before the hot rod drags but should hopefully have constant stable fuel pressure now.
Really hoping for the dry weather to get some full passes in with no fuel issues and no wandering on the track.
be good to see if we can hit the target ET and mph for the year.

Yes mate, just getting stuff done as the last thing I want it big trouble at the race track. Not that the team can’t handle it but nice to get everything I can get done before.
Hoping it will run better now.
It will soon be winter and then there’s some more time to make any changes that I think it will need.

Well it’s the 2nd and probably last outing for this year at the NSRA Hot Rod Drags at the weekend.
It has come around fast!
cars pretty much back together as much as possible ready for the front to go on and loaded up tomorrow evening.
A few tweaks from the debut but nothing too major so hopefully we get the target hit for this year at the weekend.
weather is looking hit and miss but recently has changed to Good Friday and Saturday.
I have my app set to a santapod and it’s pretty accurate when we are super gas racing so I’ll think on the positive side

Gotta have fun in my old ageeven if I am a grumpy very Ol git.
At the end of The Gasser Circus racing year an awards night takes Place, the pick shows my award, as I always say everything is alright.
It didn?t go perfectly but finally got our finger on one of the issues.
A long day Friday digging down a rabbit hole on the carb changes that I thought I had done wrong but long story short it turned out to be a pump issue aswell as needing more RPM to be where I want it off the start line!
Positives 10.72 with a good mph of 126.9.
Not good enough for a 16 car ladder but still good..
anti balloon plate would be good.
Get the fuel better as it?s rich as Ya like. Seen bigger jets in 900 hp big blocks lol
