Andy refuses to race ever again - partly a political decision.
As such his first version of it was too much and he hated driving it, it's now de-tuned and aimed (a bit) more for road use, and he is far happier driving it.
He's concentrating more on his son getting into drag racing now - who also has a Pop![]()

Well it's been a while since I posted - car has mostly been in hibernation since last post though I did take it out to a local meet on Boxing day;
Today I finally bit the bullet and attacked the roof with the DA - jeez I had laid some paint on that - even with 40 grit on the DA it took ages to break through to the filler. The reason for this is a couple of cracks were in the paint for years but I ignored them, but this summer a new one appeared along the gutter line so this forced me to have to do something about it.
I was expecting cracks in the filler under the paint, but it was not as bad as I expected, a couple of hairline ones that I ground out, but it seems the cracks were mainly in the paint. 10 years of abuse and quite a few wheelstands on the strip (and street) have taken their toll.

Happy new year for tonight everyone,
Had the heating on all day in the garage while I did other things, so it was fairly warm later in the day. I did some more filler work and then masked the car up.
First coats of epoxy primer on to see if the filler is the right shape - probably not so far but I'll see tomorrow.

primer got blocked back today and the first coat of gloss has been laid on. It's not masked properly as this is just to see if it all looks straight, there is one tiny flat spot I need to address that I can see.

Small flat spot now filled,
And 2 coats of paint applied, now unmasked for a good wash before I flat the roof paint properly for the last 2 coats to be properly blended with fade out thinners. Paint looks a bit rough as I had the air pressure too low (20psi - trying to avoid overspray).

Back to roof paint. I had painted it last week and left it to harden off, after a bit of sanding it needed one more coat to fill in a few dimples from me not having the air pressure high enough on the previous coats.
This was done yesterday so time to flat it off properly.
Some time later and it now looks like this.
Mostly happy with it, a couple of areas need another bit of wet sanding to remove sanding marks but it's nearly there.
