    2 speed Powerglide

Any one have, or had, a car with the 2 speed Powerglide gearbox?
Looking at a car which has that box fitted to an inline 6-3.3ltr and
wondered how they perform or any problems/niggles?

is it the early 'kin heavy cast iron case or the later muuuuuch lighter ali case? we had a 60 impala in with the early iron case box and the bolt together torque convertor leaked badly. i assume the two halves are sealed together with some type of rubber 'o' ring like modern 'race' convertors.

A bit late to the party but I have had a couple of cars with powerglides. They can be a bit slow off the line but seem to wind up alright when you are rolling. They were in mid 60s Chevs with V8s, so a pretty heavy car. I think they are pretty bullet proof - I hit a rabbit at 65mph in my 283 powered Belair, with knocked the gear selector down into 1st. It would wind up to 70mph in first which was always funny.
