    Back from a weeks skiing, nothing broken or injured, so another win We did have 5 feet of snow in 48 hours though! lots of avalanches and 3 people killed in the resort next to us ( Val d'Isere). Had some fun in the powder the next day (the resort was closed due to the snow for a day).

    Anyway.... now I'm back Andy popped round today to have a look at progress, he's happy with it all and likes the door hinge pins as they are

    I started on the new door glass felts for the doors - they had put the 70 year old ones back in the car The drivers door had a new runner on the glass which was full length which makes it almost impossible to remove it from the winder mechanism in the door. I've trimmed it off both ends here to the factory length.

    More unfixed stuff - the bottom channel brace fixing on the drivers door had fractured off, they had put a tiny rivet in it which was about as useful as a chocolate teapot Difficult to clean it up properly as I could not get anythingf into it, so scraping with a screwdriver had to suffice.

    3 Untidy welds later with a wet rag applied had it properly fixed again.

    Minimal damage to paint on the other side - the left bit of primer is the rivet hole, a slight burn on the right. This will be repainted later.

    With that fixed the new glass channel was cut to size and bonded in.

    While that dries I started looking into the bonnet alignment issues, eventually removing the nose completely to review how it's fixed and to tidy up the ragged holes where it bolted in. The horrid radiator brace is now gone as well - which Andy hated.

    Turns out it's just as well I removed the nose - note the smashed off paint inside (now with a bit of epoxy primer applied) this is where the radiator was jammed into the metal, it had already worn some of the ally welds on the radiator. I have trimmed off some of the top hose which will pull the top of the radiator back towards the car so this should no longer be an issue. Another issue was the alternator was rubbing against the nose, removing the paint. I removed the fanbelt and have ordered a shorter one to fix this.

    Looking in the top of the radiator shows a massive amount of rusty sludge, so another job on the list will be flushing the engine & rad to get it clean. Hmmm.........pro built engines.............

    Air filter removed so I can have access to set up the parts for the choke mechanism - all the bits have arrived at work while I've been off.

    I'd also ordered some polystrip discs and they arrived next day too, some good sellers out there.

    As such it seemed rude not to fit them to Andy's car when I got home.

    I did a bit of research on the sunroof today, Andy has it booked into Trimmania for the interior and they still specialise in these sunroofs, so I think I'll let them sort it out as they know more about it and will have the spare parts.
    Looking at the rear rail - it has the screwholes in it for the front latch so they definitely fitted it back to front

    Lastly tonight I'd still been trimming down the door latch on the drivers side last night as it was catching on the door - but the door was still stiff to open. Tonight I noticed the repaired paint was scraped again at the top of the door, so the deadblow mallet persuaded the top of the door to move over a little, it now opens and closes nicely, and no paint damage from the mallet.

    That pic appears to show the air bleed hose pointing downwards, allowing for the angle of the pic, should it not be pointing up?

    Maurice it says too atmoshere. So it probably heads down under the car. The only thing i add to mine is a cheap fuel filter to stop any dirt ingress

    Its a pressure vent valve. It remains closed permanently unless vacuum or pressure open it momentarily. It does not matter what orientation it is fitted in.

    Only a small update tonight, as mentioned some parts had arrived at work while I was away.

    These are the mini rose joint rods for the choke mechanism as well as a choke cable. 3mm rods & joints from aliexpress, knife for scale. I bought several rod lengths as they were very cheap.

    They will be used to link the carbs like this;

    And as if by magic they are now fitted choke cable is temporarily added to check it works properly. Chokes off here;

    and with chokes fully on;

    That shoud make cold starts far more user friendly - Andy said it was a real problem to start from cold.

    Window runner guide got it's first coat of paint as well, excuse the run - it's more protection than looks on this occasion, though I did wipe the run off later

    Hi when you bonded in the window channels did you use tiger seal or something else, also did you put the adhesive on the side of the window channel around the top of the door, I noticed you put the adhesive on the back of the channel on the inner window runner, many thanks, enjoying this and your other pop threads cheers John Weatherby

    Ok, mine is just a really long piece of braided hose looped up to level with the side window & then down through the floor & exits by the diff housing. As I haven't yet cut it to length I might put a couple of loops in it first at the top to provide a seal, as the original which was steel tubing still allowed fuel to syphon out!

    Hi John,

    Yes I used a PU adhesive (same as Tiger seal) I only put a short bead on the back of the channel where the little pads are on the door where they normally screw in (I don't like the screws near the glass) and I only bonded the bottom 2" of the channel in the photo where the paint is.
