well i had a deal with my mate and i now own a mk2 zodiac. the welding on the henry j isn't as bad as we thought so we'll help him with fitting the running gear too. it does mean there'll be another henry j gasser with a big block in the uk which has to be a good thing right?

so after staring under/behind the dash for a while (30 seconds at least) we unbolted the dash, unscrewed the fuse box from the bulkhead and flopped it all onto the floor.... much better. then we unpicked the wiring from the indicator stalk and the 7 core cables going to the front and rear lights. next we slung a battery inside and tested/marked what everything (front and back) was connected to. we ended up with a bird's nest of spare wires in a box with more to come as the rear 7 core was added to replace what the car was built with..... that's still hanging under the floor. hopefully the new loom kit will arrive tomorrow and we can start redoing it all, neatly this time though.

my mate said, ''can you tidy the wiring and get everything working, before the swapmeet if possible''. unfortunately there was no 'tidying up' to be done there, lol.

I'm sure that wont take too long to unravel I once bought a kit car years ago, all the wiring was either black or white with tags on the ends to tell you what was what.

we got some more done today on the rewire. the new fuse/relay panel is mounted inside the bulkhead pass' side where access is good while still out of sight. the 'instructions' and i use that word loosely that came with the loom were as good as always these days. nothing to show which fuse does what for just one example, plus what diagram there was showed numbered wires coming from the panel and what they do but there are no numbers on the panel. so we had to power up the panel and as the wires are marked with what they do we could pull fuses one at a time and mark what fuse did what in a new diagram we drew. next we tested the various switches including the ignition switch to see what connections do what and mark them too, also with more diagrams. oh, and we tested the wiper motor which surprisingly works. more soon.....

nothing worthy of pics, just more running of wires etc. gauges are back in the dash, the oil pressure gauge pipe is rerouted and now goes through a grommet at the bulkhead. the engine even turns over on the key . we even added washers and a locknut to the throttle cable where it goes through the bulkhead, the whole cable was flopping back and forth in the hole like a pr*ck in a shirt sleeve, lol.

it seems i've located a tunnel ram for my nash. it's had the top altered for (i think enderle?) injection so i'll need to do something with that but it's not the end of the world.

bit more done today, the dash is hanging almost in position and everything's connected and works. we'll get the dash bolted in and the new wiring tied and sleeved neatly tomorrow.
my mate who's car it is arrived in his new toy after lunch, a steel model A coupe fenderless hot rod. it has a fully detailed chassis with a 350/350 up front.
we have to collect a 2.0 (2.1 i'm told) pinto and auto box with lokar shifter by saturday so it can go for a ride to the swapmeet sunday before being dropped off at john gumble's shop ready to go in his new '39 willys. it's all go, lol.
