All wired up apart from front lights as still waitin on front wings from paint shop. Everything seems to work fine .. apart from alternator warning light stays on even if take ignition key out.. if I take key out then flick say wiper switch it turns the light out even though obviously wipers don’t come on because ignition key is out .. One of those denso alternators .. small thing .. got a volt gauge and we are a charging and light goes out when engine runnin .. got the light in excitor wire as per diagram in wiring kit.. switched live to other small terminal .. permanent 12v to power terminal on top of alternator .. tried swapping exitor wire and other switched live over .. light doesn’t come on at all then .. hmmm any ideas

Try that Alan
Thanks sir .. I think that’s how I got it done.. hmm … better spend some time with kids today .. get back on it mora
I had one of those little Denso jobies, brand new, seemed to charge ok but the light wouldn't go out. It might have been self inflicted as I was trying to be clever, inserting a relay as the load in order to operate an led. But it wouldn't work with a regular bulb either( relay removed). I gave up on the led idea, got a two wire bulb holder that would fit into the lovely light fitting I had (the use of which was driving the whole arrangement!) and with another, similar but not identical, new alternator, everything worked fine. I've got a wiring diagram I need to find, but they're commonly available. Perhaps my initial issue was me thinking I'd be clever and use a low revs alternator, more suitable to a narrow boat, with the idea being a strong charge at idle because the relatively low amperage alternator might need the best chance it could have to maintain the battery! Its replacement has thus far worked flawlessly.
Might running the wrong way round have a bearing on the problem? Doubt it but you never know, fickle things these electiceries.

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.
Sounds like back feed from possibly the ignition switch. Try a different feed to the warning light if you can, something temporary
Maybe add a diode in the feed line?

We have a development … was late other night when messing with it.. notice now .. fuel gauge and voltmeter drop when turn key off but still read .. flic a switch for wiper.. screen wash or anything once key is off and light goes out and gauges drop back to nil
Old lucas mini style wiper with park ?
If I remove fuse for gauges … all works properly well apart from no gauges
What gauges are they ?
Auto meter tach.. moon/ classic instruments .. Speedo fuel volt oil and temp may start disconnecting one at a time
Try the alternator feed too the battery/starter first
