    Ol Girls still coming along.

    Hi ya

Been working on boot area, rear suspension, rear wiring, air tank install, new 15 gallon tank, fuel feed, battery fitting. Now all the ass end sorted, just gotta put boot lid back on, may fit a high level brake light in it if I can find something suitable.

    Any how here's a pic.

    Cheers John.

Also looks like I will be sticking with SBC as needed to take beemer engine by tommorow, but won't tie up large amount of dough and have SBC sitting about.
Hey ho. So tommorow back down garage, fit battery clamp and bootlid, the turn Ol' Girl round and start fitting the front end back on. Would like to make a tilt front but not sure quite how that would work yet.

    Cheers

    Cheers.
Been down garage today, had to change mini steering rack as found did not have enough lock, seems i had the sportpack rack for the 13inch wheel mini with reduced lock. Luckily i had another i could get hold of sharpish, now much better. Fitted rear wheels back on with new taller tyres, i think i like the stance, they fill out arches better. Also topped and check tranny level after changing pan to my deep pan with cooling tubes, not sure got it right yet, need to get a proper dipstick instead of this Chinese flex one. Also started to put front wings in place, well one them anyway, decided flip front gonna be a bit hard to do (which means aint gotta clue) but will try to make it so i can remove wings and nose as one peice for any engine maintenance, cos it's to difficult leaning over the wings.

    Cheers

So been down garage last couple of days (well some of it anyway) fitted front gaz shocks, painted up a couple of bits i got at very good price at swap meet, edelbrock valve covers and a long air finned air filter (this had Mustang in raised letters on it so I milled those of with my router) sprayed both to match engine, both cost me ?120 I love a good deal. Started on trans tunnel and extra gauge housing. Getting there be a week or 2 before all sorted. Gotta fit rear gaz socks, order some carpet, sort steering lock.

Heres a pic of new bits on engine.

So now fitted inners wings i made out of ali. Finished gearbox tunnel/centre console, trimmed in leather from an old sofa. Fitted carpet today. Couldn't decide whether to go for overiders, bumpers or both, settled on both, overiders another swap meet buy 6 quid the pair. Removed old side lights and indicators, cut some slots for air flow through to discs. Fitted headlight with side/indicators round rim.

Ordered a die nut to put some extra thread on the metro steering rack so I can shorten the arms by about inch each side and still fit my rod ends.

Just need to fit rear bumper etc., rear shocks, clean inside of car, feed the leather seats. Getting there.

Good to hear you are sticking with the SBC

We have covered the essential fitting of a start inhibit switch on here haven't we,apologies if we have and I've missed it.

    Hi Guys

So finished the interior other than a bit of trim along the edge of the carpet by the doors. Fitted rear Gaz shocks took for a short run to check ride, mmmm bumpy so adjust the shocks down a bit much better. Still too bloody loud gonna have to look at sending the pipes out the back and possibly a bit more silencing.

Then Sunday took her out for a bit of a run to Headcorn retro rides meet, ran great handled great, still need a bit more steering lock so will get on with doing the metro steering rack swap very soon. On way back ruddy fan belt went walk about!!!!! still managed to get home with the aid of a quick fix with some cable on the water pump, crank pulleys. Seems the fan belt I had, and was sold as correct for auto use turned out to be a lawnmower belt (right length though) Just ordered 2 Contitech AVX belts.

So next step after a bit more running, will be to get over to Sittingbourne to a fella there that can set up carb properly and maybe chuck it on the dyno.

Here are some pics of the Metro rack alongside my spare Mini one, you will see it is a bit wider approx an inch each side and the pinion is over to the right about an 1 and half ( be good for moving the bottom of the column over to miss the exhaust down pipes for when I change the manifolds in the future). I have tapped the rack arms around 1.5 inches so I can cut off the excess length to match the Mini rack width. The rack give about another 1/2inch lock length.

    Cheers Gary

Tidied up, looks like that's going too work, are you sure there's a proper thread cut on them as a lot of those have a rolled thread ?
