I'm in the process of installing an S10 gearbox to a flathead and there is a sleeve that goes over the input shaft ( this is a speedway kit) one end has a inside bevel and the other side is flush, either way it's a very tight fit which will in all probability will have to be drifted on, I'm reluctant to do this until I'm sure of the orientation of the sleeve, can anyone advise me please.

The bevelled end is designed as a `lead` end and that end goes on first, Nigel. When I fitted mine I removed and packed the S10 input sleeve in ice to `shrink` it as much as possible and heated the adaptor sleeve to help it go on easier ... BUT, you have to work fast once started as the sleeve will start shrinking again when the two come in contact.
Luckily I had a deep throated vice, and after removing the S10 sleeve I simply wound the new adaptor on using the vise until it seated...
