Sadly, it reflects on the lack of development and enhancement of this forum that this is the first post on the NSRA's biggest event of the year.
I had a banging weekend and cannot express my thanks enough to all those involved in making it what it was.
Sure, not everything was to my taste, but there was plenty that was.
Special thanks to Hannah, Glyn, and Colin for ensuring that prizegiving ran smoothly so everyone could get home at a reasonable time

It would be much better if every weekend attendee with a show car could stay until Monday morning,no need for a bar or entertainment on the Sunday night,that way all the the paying joe public could see all the show cars and there would be no rush home.it was such a shame the prize winners were picked before the Sunday as the gravel road divided them,there were definitely some show winners on the left in my opinion!! We had a great day Sunday as was at retrofestival with a lot of other nsra members on the Saturday,pity the shows clashed again,thanks to all the crew for putting on the showOriginally Posted by Dave

We had a fantastic time just went too quickly! Saw lots of people but still couldn't possibly chat with everyone. A big big thank you to the committee, blue crew and all of the helpers. It's a small army that puts on this event.
Our part was only a small part. It seemed to go fairly smoothly. Not sure it's ever been early before! HUGE thanks to Lee Picton as well for being dragged in to help, couldn't have done it without you!
The judging panel had a near impossible job. They spent 3 solid days looking at cars and deliberating. There will be very few people that saw more of the cars then the 5 of them. They WERE still judging Sunday morning as well and their list of winners changed several times from a provisional list. There are ALWAYS going to be cars that are missed I'm afraid. This is no different to previous years with participants votes. The standard of cars just gets better and better.
Everyone who attended deserves an award in my opinion. The hours and hours spent in the garage, the long journeys and the troubles that were had. Every car has a story and any car that made it is a huge achievement.
Here's to next years and whatever the dressing up theme will be

Just beginning to recover from a great weekend, as always! Thanks to all who helped to put it on! Liked the use of the stage and screen for prize-giving, but can't understand why that's never happened before. Was saddened to be told " the prizegiving is great without John Price prattling on". If only they knew the truth!
Eleccy bikes on the banned list please, especially those being ridden by younguns practicing their stunts. Air displays were a nice touch. Too much entertainment in my view. Who could honestly have taken it all in? Friday was always a chilled, quiet day, but alas no longer. Noticing some vehicles, principally a gang of mopeds, going around, indicative of the worrying trend of the Supernationals going down the route of the 'Nats', party etc foremost. Noticed the party tent has grown from its modest stature to a full on marquee, and well attended. Felt like a rod run of old, which was nice. Liked the bar being fully open sided, never understood why it's not always like that, weather permitting. Sad to see much of the Facebook reports of issues, including serious dog bite (but subsequently shown to be stupidity of the bitten person, but sad nonetheless), passing wristbands over fencing, kids on bikes, 'public' disrespecting property, lack of advance clarity over the judging and show areas. But nobody died, I hope! And we wouldn't be happy if we weren't unhappy about summat, right?
Looking forward to next year already.

Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.
I'm sure the committee will take on board all the positive & negative comments on the forum & social media to make next years Supernationals even better.
Hopefully less dust & a bit cooler would be very nice as well.

Event was excellent, the new committee seem to all be working together very well together which is great to see.
Toilets were superb this year - absolutely spotless at all times.
Showers good, but the shower people need to be told that 15 seconds for a shower push button is stupid, it should be at least a minute. Having to constantly push the button just to be able to shower is daft.
It all seemed very well run, so thanks to all involved.

I spoke to the guys on the Puch Mopeds. They each had a very nice car there as well. What was promising was each bike was registered, taxed and insured. They also had helmets on the whole time as well.
I saw them as young fellas enjoying the event.
I wouldn't put these in the same category as an illegal electric scooter.

Thanks Mal, the helmets were noted. However, despite their road legality I understand they're not OK to cruise the site, and besides that, the casual observer might think mopeds etc are OK now and before we know it we're inundated, maybe? There was a minature hardtail bike going around. Cool as anything and not doing anything stupid, but...

It probably needs to be taken up with the committee and how Shuttleworth run the site, the few times i saw them they were very well behaved

I can`t recall the exact wording but event rules effectively say NO bikes other than those that fit in with the ethos of the event, basically Harleys, choppers, bobbers and the like but no go-peds, mopeds etc, even that miniature hardtail bike came under the latter.
It`s been in the event rules and programmes for a number of years and it surprised me when nothing was done about them. At one point the 4 bikes rode through the people seated outside the hospitality marquee then up to the top of the show field, what if a child had ran in front of them, I dread to think of the consequences!...
This is the current wording:
3.Non-Permitted vehicles and radio controlled devices
Strictly no Go-peds, Mini moto, or other electric vehicle (Except recognised disability/enablement aids) allowed on site at any time. The use of Drones or other radio-controlled airborne devices is prohibited.
4.Use of vehicles on site
4.1 A 10mph speed limit applies to everyone on site, the Road Traffic Act(s) apply. All drivers/riders must have a driving licence and motorcyclists must wear a helmet.
4.2 Children are not permitted to drive/ride motor vehicles other than Tot Rods.
4.3 No driving/riding after 9:00pm or before 6:00am unless in case of emergency or by permission.
4.4 The use of any form off road, on road/off road Enduro, Trike, Quad bike or competition machine is strictly forbidden.
4.5 Motorcycles which the NSRA feels contribute to the event are welcome! These include ‘cruiser’ bikes, classics, and vintage.
4.6 Driving while under the influence of drink or drugs is strictly forbidden. Limit in accordance with the Road Traffic act(s).
4.7 Inappropriate driving or driving in a manner likely to endanger life, personal welfare or that may damage the site and individual property is strictly forbidden.

3. From what I saw they came under either heading.
4.1 The 10mph limit was certainly exceeded at times.
4.3 The hardtail type bike ridden after the 9pm cutoff time, going to and from the entertainment area.
4.5 None of the bikes mentioned came under those categories.
4.7 Riding through the public seating area as previously mentioned and riding hap hazard around the show field (both H&S issues). The latter being one of the reasons such bikes were initially banned, to avoid public injury and possible damage to someone`s pride and joy...it could happen...

We know everyone concerned with the Puch's and these very responsible youngsters. Between them they have some beautiful hotrods including a top 10 truck. They are super skilled car builders. That little collection of restored Puch mopeds cost over ?4000 and are all pre 72. My first bike ever was a Puch Maxi. It was a bit rough and cost me ?5 in 1975. They certainly brought some nostalgic smiles from many of our friends.
So me and Vicks keep that show site spotless Wednesday to Monday. We do the avenues and perimeter road and under the trees, we help the dustbin men and Vicks also does the 'stickering' on the gate. We've done it for years now and start at 6am we are both completely sober by 6.30. and absolutely love doing our bit to look after the coolest bunch of predominantly pensioners outside of the US.
My point is simple. We don't want to lose these youngsters to the vintage VW shows and all the other niche classic car stuff. We need to encourage them! They are our future after all and will probably end up buying our hot rods, otherwise our cars one day when we are too old will end up in a massive museum!!
I've done risk assessments all my life with my building company. I think the vintage Puch mopeds were a lovely distraction, however, if we want to discuss absolute real risk it was the hundreds of cigarette ends stubbed out all over the entire show field, every day and especially from the Sunday. We're incredibly lucky the whole show site and camp site didn't go up in flames!
We put sand buckets in a few years ago and they work brilliantly, I absolutely do not want people to be banned from smoking, like at other festivals. I've got sand bucket ideas and some new signage for next year and I will be speaking to Kim about it.
Can we just get stuff in perspective? We're all getting older... life is short and precious.
Mike and Vicks in the big Evel Knievel motorhome. (We're normally in a heavily chopped 32 but Mike's been poorly all year).
