if it says C5 then it will probably be a C5, they were post 82 C4 boxes with a lockup TC.

does that mean it is a mustang 2 box with a ten inch converter?
-can you tell by the bell housing picture?

what i mean is, its deffo small block ford 302ci?
-has the smaller t/c, thus smaller bell housing?

-sorry, but I am a newbie, never had yank v8 shixzzle

p.s. are the 10 inch converters with the smaller bells, best for a pop

-do i actually want a 302ci - with the dizzy in the front, over a chevy, in a pop
    ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????

Dunno bout the box to new for me but 302 in a pop yes dizzy were you can reach it and its a narrower engine so should fit a narrow pop engine bay and by geting the right front pump and stuff can be madejust about as short as a chevy giv or take an inch.
Ford in a Ford it is the way forward!

Looks like a C4 to me , with a small bell housing. The C5 at the start of the casting number may be the date code , C5 would be `65 making it a very early one. Is the bell housing held on with the same bolts that hold the pump in ? (If you look in the bell you should only see one set of bolts)

& yes it will fit a 302. Internal specs altered slightly around `70 so be careful buying parts.

    ..& wether it's a C5 or a `65 it won't be a Mustang 2 (`65 too early , C5 too late).

How many splines on the input shaft? Does the dipstick go into the case or oil pan?

There will either be a hole in the right hand side of the sump (pan) near the front or one just behind the bell housing near the bottom of the casing , looking into the pan.

I have a C5 on my threepointhate. It doesn't look like the pic Alcoholic Rat has put up, nor the pic on the original post IIRC. I can climb under and get a pic if needs be.
