    Brit Rods

A topical theme judging by recent Custom Car features. Here's some old and new, can you identify any of 'em (the obvious ones not withstanding):

I think i know them all but this one caught my eye,its Nick Lewins Jag powered Austin 16,that car was originally rodded would you believe back in 1969 with a Jag motor.

Thanks Ian, the pic was taken at Billing in '81 so it had already been rodded for 12 years by then, amazing. Always like the car very well proportioned rod. I wonder if is still around?

As far as i know Dave Nick still owns the car,he is a rare visitor to meetings and has been for quite a few years,we travelled with Nick & Jill to the ISCA show in Denmark back around 81/82.
I remember the alternator failing on the Austin in Denmark, and when we stopped to look at the car a sparrow had got its neck jammed between the su carb intake and the clearance cut out in the wing, killing it instantly i would think!!
It must have thought itself lucky to have missed the huge headlamp not knowing what fate lay behind the lamp !!

Nick was a one time member of the Birmingham based "Mid England Roadsters"
even though he was from Leicester.

    Did it have a 'name'???

I am sure I went to see it years ago in Countesthorpe (Leicester), and it was in need of some TLC, but all there...

I think I actually looked into buying it, but my memory is crap...!!!!

Two Hillman Minx on there too. The brown/cream one was Mark Tanner's and the all cream one was Steve Cheetham's I think. The chopped Vauxhall was Cliff Moore's and Nick Lewin used to live in Wigston. The two tone Austin is an earlier build of Stewart Reville's, the Humber woodie is Colin Pugh's and could the red pilot with the wires be Pete Clements'?

Is that a Rutherford I spy, walking past?

This one is Pat (s)Miles' Pilot that he owned for 18 years & just sold last year when he got his new truck.

Bu66ered if I can remember the name of the guy that owned the red/black Austin in the first pic. He brought it up to the Bingley Hall show in Birmingham a couple of times I think. From memory, he came from St Albans. Ring any bells?

Thats the one Allan, can't think how it was spelt, but I am sure the name was inside the bootlid???

Ah nice to see my old blown idle z van had it featured sold it to someone who wrecked it put those hideous flames on it, he sold it then it got written off 11 years of work down the drain makes you wish you could just store everything you ever had.
