My speedo cable ran much tighter from the box & worked fine.

    Martin

Who cares If It's glass or steel, It's still a hot rod.

That's good to know Martin, I might just try it on a drill to see how smoothly it runs.

Hi Mark, great to see you back on this and can't wait to hear/see it running.

Great stuff - keep it up.

Got the speedo cable shortened and fitted through the bulkhead, tried the cable on the electric drill and the bend seems to be allright. Just need to sort a grommet for it.

Molly decided to keep me company too, lampshade collar is cos she's had the snip

Not too much to report at the moment as I'm waiting for the machine shop to have time for the block to be done, so I've mostly been doing house/garden stuff
I did find time to repaint the heater housing though, it was originally satin black - but I thought I'd do it in gloss after all.

No photos, but engine is now stripped and loaded into car for bore hone, new pistons & ARP bolts fitted to rods, resized rods and full balance job, new shortened propshaft should hopefully arrive tomorrow too.

Dropped engine in today at machine shop so should get it back in 10 days or so.
Meanwhile my new prop turned up unfortunately the U bolts are too short? so will need to send those back for replacements.

    It's not very long

Got a new slip yoke off of Langy's rod shop but it was 1/2" too long
But it said hello to the angle grinder and now it's the correct length

All re-measured and will drop it into Propshaft Services - Propshaft Manufacturing Specialists to get it re-done this week if I can.

Another little job fixed was the axle breather, mine has an unusual outlet, but managed to find a breather that fitted with the help of a short piece of hose, just need to get 2 small clips to lock it off.

If you can`t make it over this way during the day Mark, drop it all off at mine one evening and I`ll take it in the next day, then you can re-collect from me when done ...

Not a lot happening at present, waiting on engine & prop to come back and it's a bit hot in the garage at present!

I did finish off a little job though, got the speedo cable finished with proper grommet and location.

Tapped thread in the cage and added a threaded bush in the side panel with a nylon spacer, another little job finished.

Not much progress to report recently, been too hot to do much and mostly still waiting on parts.

Bit of a saga on the propshaft, suffice to say third time lucky so hopefully get that back in a day or two.

I have finally started on some of the electrics tonight, borrowed the correct tools to make a start on fitting the waterproof connectors for the lights with adhesive shrink wrap for total sealing.

    Steve,

too many assumptions made by me & prop people - bit of an "I thought - they thought" situation. Ho -hum, I know better now.
Brizey kindly came over on Sunday and we went through it together to make sure I got it right this time! - Thanks Bry

Got my sump back from the media blasters today, not so sure it was the best idea as I washed it about 11,000 times & still I'm getting media out of the baffles.
It even went in the dishwasher

I'll run the hose through it for a while when its painted with a load of detergent, that should get it all out.
    Sump after blasting,

    And after primer coats.

Soda blast would of been better Mark

    Cheers Tim,
Another little job ticked off the list, my original bootlid inner panel is 3mm ply, but it's a bit brittle and had cracked (partly through age) so I replaced it with 3mm polypropylene which we use at work. This is more flexible & wont suffer if it gets wet either. All ready for the tuck n roll trim to go on.

Poly sheet has a nice 70's dashboard finish on it too.
