Started out with modified A series but sister blew up her engine so got her to run in new engine then started to go to shows and car club and got the “will this engine fit” bug. Never did put A series back in tried V6, Daimler then rover, then decided no more changes, finish it or scrap it. Didn’t like the thought of selling it for someone else to finish
let me introduce Allan (bunch62), as you probably realised he's the owner of the minor
neil.
Plenty of motivation here!
look forward to seeing it coming back together!

the minor's bulkhead and rear of inner wings are now in colour. the body is now bolted back to it's chassis with just the centre brackets that we had to cut free needing to be drilled, tapped and bolted in place. after lifting the body up and sitting it back down all the bolt holes lined up fine, which shows how nice and stiff both it and the chassis are. also the front and rear wings have been stone chipped for protection ready to be refitted for transport back to allan. no pics as you've seen it bolted together already, lol.
neil.
all the body bolts are now in, the exhaust is rehung and ash' is coming here to refit the wings tomorrow. that'll be that then. i'm happy with how it's come together and hopefully allan will get a 'second wind' and go on to finish it. it'll be a cool car when done for sure.
neil.
Can't see that he won't Neil, it's at a tremendous point at the moment, you've done him proud mate.

Great work Neil, and it will be nice if Allan can continue to give us updates of his progress.
We wanna see it driving!
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt",
but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!
Keep the updates coming, get a thread started I’m sure we can help with pics

allan now has the minor back home.
we also made a trip out and collected my new larger lathe. we ended up unbolting the lathe from it's tray and cast iron feet so my engine crane could lift it high enough for ash' to back his recovery truck underneath. i also bought a floor standing pillar drill from the guy, george who was really great with help loading the lathe etc.
anyway we didn't get back until nearly 7pm so just backed ash's loaded truck into my garage, closed the doors and i took him home. unloading is a job for tomorrow after he's painted a bedroom for one of his girls. we'll use my 2 post lift to get the lathe off the truck and assembled again and then sat on some dollies so we can wheel it into it's new home.
neil.
another fun day with an overweight lathe. as my lift is a 'short' post one at wouldn't go high enough to lift the lathe off of ashley's truck. so we had to run the arms either side and prop and strap it to them, this worked as you can see
. now to move the old one (much easier) and get it together and in place.
neil.
Heavy old things ain’t they!! Mine didn’t do the engine Crane much good!![]()

Gotta have fun in my old ageeven if I am a grumpy very Ol git.
they've got no fear, they were underneath it sniffing it all. dawn said when they came indoors they smelt all 'garagey', lol.
neil.
taxirod's new kingpin bushes are now pressed in and reamed for his morris 8 so he can make it a roller now.
also my cheap shrinker stretcher has often not had enough throat for the job. deep throat (ooer missus) ones are available but 2-3 times the price so what do you do. strip the body that holds the jaws and make it deeper throat of course. it was nothing a decent step drill and a cutting disc in the grinder couldn't achieve, lol. it's gone from a 25mm throat to a 70mm throat. next is to copy the body and make a second so we don't need to keep swapping jaws over during a job. i could buy another cheapy and modify it but that'd mean spending £85 and i have steel here to make one. i'll have to have a think.....
neil.
