seen others mention Joe Gibbs Break in oil ? unsure best route to go? not lookin forward to the break in process at all

i've used their oils for auto and manual boxes too.
as an aside i recently used this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/375391591...Bk9SR7iXnuyrZg for a cam/lifter swap in a ford fe v8 and had lifter failure.... twice. i'd previously always used the cream/paste/grease type lubes so just bought this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362496020...Bk9SR7yXnuyrZg for the next ones which first will be my mopar small block.

cheers - i covered the cam in lifters etc in the assembly lube that came with it from isky..... ill have a look at the oils you mention too thanks

When i was much younger it was molybdenum disulphide paste that was put on the cams, i never had one fail, but it's probably banned now !

Well after a week chasing gremlins ..... its alive .. managed to run for ten mins or so but a rubbish rocker gasket caused a fairly decent sized leak so we had shut it down .. Ill order some gaskets and we can try again later in the week ..

should be a vide attached but can't seem get to work

Watched the YouTube video. Nice! I've seen it quite a few times now as YouTube has done that thing to me where it somehow automatically plays it every time I go into YouTube. Will corrupt your viewing numbers if that's of any concern to you!!

Mulitiple views of your Firestone radials (145's by the look of them) reminded me that mine are getting rather worn. The last pair I got fitted was in the US and I can't remember where they come from here. Any ideas?

I have no idea how youtube works - i only put it on there as it was only way i could see to put it on here..

as for the tires - i bought those second hand to set up- they are old and to be fair should probably be changed before car hits the road - I know they are a ball ache to get hold of at a decent price and my ol man ended up goin for 145 nankangs on his 34 and they look ok and he reckons drives better ...

If you are talking about Firestone F560's they are bloody awful tyres now. 60 year old design of tyre.
Try Galaxy Vitour radials from Northants Tyres, nice modern radial in narrow sizes and a hell of a lot cheaper. Way better grip and lighter steering.

Edit - a lot are now raised letter whitewalls, but the 155/70/15 below are still blackwall.

Disaster …..

when the motor is cold sounds fine as warms up I got a knocking.. got the old screw driver to the ear .. pinpointed noise to number 5 or 7 … I reset all valves … same again quiet when cold .. once warm a knock … not a really bad knock but a knock .. thought could be a wrist pin knocking … just pulled no 5 and no 7 .. where the noise was … at the bottom of bore number 5 there is some rust .. now this engine i put together 3 year ago had been kept dry and turned over every month … my question is could this rust at the bottom of the bore be causing my knock once it all gets warm? Or would you lean towards a wrist pin prob? Pins feel tight in rods when out but they are obviously cold … heeellllpppp
