It will be 4 pics. I will post a new thread for entries in the main section on the 1st. Entries can be posted from 1st to 7th. All voting details will follow. I'm sure the 'silent majority' will be springing some great models upon us! As for me I'm way behind...:)

PLEASE NOTE: The photo entries thread will be purely for that....nothing else, no discussion. All discussion on the entries will happen in this thread.
ANY NON COMPLIANT POSTS WILL BE REMOVED.
This is purely to help with the judging. If people have to wade through pics and discussion then voting will become a real pain.
Thanks to the admin/mod team for helping with the organisation.

Jase the only way I ever knew to paint a good yellow on plastic was to give it a perfect 'white' paint job first...then the yellow. White needs to be a pure bluish white rather than a creamy one.

the first paint job was with a white primer........the major prob was that the paint just wouldnt dry properly and it was collecting....no matter how thinly it was applied........the body is now VERY rough but for photographic purposes it will do and the race decals will cover many of the imperfections.....its back in primer and the interior is flat white again and the final colour ....nothing special at all but now its blue:eek:

use the macro setting on taking pictures it will have a logo of a little flower on there and for the best lighting take it outside but pick some where of a good background, grass, tarmac, or put it on a table outside, decking that sort of thing.

donor car for engine, wheels and fuel tank.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Morbius666/32%20ford%20NSRA/2008_121032Ford0026.jpg

first paint,

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Morbius666/32%20ford%20NSRA/2009_01020085.jpg

then decided on bobbed fenders and refinished roof chop.

first mock up,

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Morbius666/32%20ford%20NSRA/2009_01020116.jpg

Final paint, or so I thought, It wasnt low emough so the fenders had to go, the engine wouldnt fit, as the hood kept it short, so it all came off. I then sectioned the rad again.

the model looks incredible......but i did get a "sense" that it was "unfinished".....my trailer and " the d word" (scenery), have gone by the wayside and the sunny weather that i was hoping for so that i could do the pics has somewhat vanished..................this model will et pulled apart and rebuilt probably....either way, its been a laugh:D

i'll be posting pics as soon as possible, but i have a question.

what is classed as a novice build, because to be honest, theres some pretty damn good "novice" builds so far.

plumpcars
05-03-09, 07:11 AM
David, Novice is done on a trust basis. It's for people that have either never built a model or maybe built one or two when they were young(Many years back)
Example: My last car model was in the seventies but I did dabble with some modelling of other sorts, model railway and slot car, in the eighties so don't consider myself a novice.

If Drakie and I see any that look like a blatant misuse of that trust then we may have to send the boys round...

Drakie
05-03-09, 12:27 PM
I have noticed a few saying
NOVICE, MODIFIED,
As you are only meant to enter into 1 class if you could have a think of what one you want to enter and change it to the one you want to enter it into please.
NOVICE OR MODIFIED as it would be unfair to others if they have entered in one class and you have entered into 2, i understand why you have put both but the NOVICE covers BOX BUILD & MODIFIED within the novice class.
Thanks.

so if you put novice you are only enetered in the novice class if you dont you are only in the modified class (apart from best overall and best paint)

im just about to take my pics :D

sorry but I am a freak!!!

yep finally got it done....after making a massive mess of the body and then the paint and having cut the modifications off and start again and then having to start the paint again after the green candy (ok it was Su's nail varnish!!) looked like it was painted with a yard broom...it don't look half bad....even if I am a freak!!...the paint is now white primer with a clear over it with some decals on and more clear..that's all

i have to say that the model attempts i`ve made in the past would need a section called novice unfinished cause even the one or two i built were finished they only looked half done comared to these offerings , excellent quality and detail on every one, i`m just disapointed more didn`t take part as i had thought going by the initial hype of the thread there was going to be about 50-70 ,

I just wonder why so many did not complete the contest? Less than half made it through to the end. Sometimes life gets in the way but is there anything that we should do differently next time? I know that getting the kit was a problem so next time would be made easier in that respect but what else could be better? More time maybe?

Steve, it's a far better completion rate than for real cars! Maybe two months is not long enough? I know I lost nearly a fortnight towards the end because of working away, and ended up still working on it well into Saturday night - this has had to be fitted in with everything else so is not something everyone can work at every night. Maybe start next (this?) year's at the beginning of December so the Christmas break can be made use of, but still have the end of Feb finish.

My only take on the comp and why only half finished is that once a couple of the really goods ones were posted I felt like not posting my effort. Maybe some thought the competion was too high and their cars were not up to standard. Also you will always have a few drop out due to other comitments and personal issues that crop up along the way.

Just my thoughts on what has been a great idea and a joy to be part of, and it's been years since I built a model and enjoyed it.....Thanks to all.

Mine nearly didnt get built at all due to life problems i nearly gave the kit away in the first week of the comp! glad i didnt tho!

Was Voting in this contest hard or what...:)

A big congratilations to all who entered, the level of workmanship and ideas is fantastic.:D
The hardest and most entered into is the modified section and what a pig to vote for. All I can say is "to those that have entered this section please don't be disheartened if you do not place in the prizes" if it was up to me then you all would win something.

So when's the next one? and what is it going to be. How about a
"Rod V Kustom Build Off" no specific kit just whatever you feel like building:)

maybe next time we can have a primer or unfinished prize ? how many people started and maybe didn't finish in time ? I personnaly prefer to see unfinsihed cars and models and the work that goes into them and at least an original idea or amount of work would be rewarded with a prize even if the deadline wasn't met.

For the next build off, I'm proposing, either fat fenders, tri chevies, drag v salt, and as has been said kustom v rods.

Drakie
09-03-09, 01:35 PM
Some good ideas coming out for the next build off, I think a plan is forming for the next one but as you may understand we want to just finish this one off before we start the next :D
Keep the ideas coming in as we want to run the next to be more open and a longer time span but thats all we have sorted out so far ;) this one was a bit rushed as in we didnt have much time to sort everything out but for the first one i think it has been fantastic!!! so with more time for us to sort the next one it wont be a rush and i think will run for 4 months for the next one giving everyone time to finish and if not finished put the wheels on and enter it anyway!!!;)

OK guys that's it I'm afraid. If you've just finished and hoped to get it uploaded before I got up this morning then you'd better pm me!
It's time to vote so read carefully.
Voting is from now until next Sunday morning when the count will be closed.
This is what you need to do:

Please send an e mail to: votes@nsra.org.uk

In the title write 'model votes'.

On it you need to write the following headings and then put your choice alongside:

Best box build:
Best modified:
Best novice:
Best paint:
Best overall:

Please keep the headings in that order and do not write anything else on the e mail.
We now have enough prizes to extend the places for best overall so that will be done within the count up.
Please do not vote for your own model! (I know you wouldn't:))
If you wish to ask the builders any questions please do so on the build thread:

Subjects in the main forum as well.
