you know me too well Tim, lol. and just to prove it.... after chatting with my mate he didn't want to buy the 'goody bits' i'd collected for the 318 so we've decided not to swap.
    me? indecisive? never

further to that last post i just ordered big end and main bearings for my 318. as far as i know the engine's all stock inside so i got +30 pistons and i just ordered -30 ends and mains. i had a chat with ash' when he dropped his/my freshly cleaned fe block to build for his zephyr and we decided if my 318 was getting a rebore, cam/lifters, timing set, oil pump etc i'd be better off getting the crank' reground rather than cheaping out and just fitting new stock bearings. the reason for going -30 not first undersize at -10 was a) price as the -30 mains were half the price and b) just in case it's ever had a 'grind i don't know about. anyway it means i can pull it apart whenever i want and get the block and crank' to the machine shop and not have to wait for parts after the work's done.

so the guy i bought the heads, inlet and torque convertor from also had a set of new prw stainless 1.6:1 roller rockers. i'm currently negotiating a price so they can be added to the pile of parts. being a 1.6:1 ratio they will increase valve lift over the stock 1.5:1 ratio (if you're lucky) stock rockers. so the engine will 'think' it's got more cam' fitted than it has. i did the same thing on a sbc years ago with good results. fingers crossed we come to an agreement on price.

both will be checked during the dry build mate. the guides/spring seats can be machined if needed as can the pistons. i'll also get a pushrod length checker tool to see if i'll need non stock length pushrods.

we're sort of back to plan A for engine choice, at least since i committed to the gasser build. ash' and me now have 3 352 fe's and a 360 along with 390 crank', rods and pistons which'll go into 1 of the 352 blocks for future 390 build. for now though the nash will be getting the 360 and a tremec t5 manual box. like with the 4r70w o/d auto the t5 manual has o/d so will work well with the 3.73 exploder axle gears.

i'm collecting an ally 10 gallon fuel tank for the nash next weekend (thanks Gary) so that'll save me pulling the dent and welding the split on the bottom of the stock tank where it was drained with an axe

i just had an email from jay brown in the states. he runs the 'fe power forums' and builds, races and makes parts for fe ford engines. he's had a new batch of his intake manifold adapters made and asked for my address to give me a shipping price. they allow the use of any 351c 4v inlet manifold which as you can imagine are more plentiful than fe ford ones. especially as i intend to fit a tunnel ram to the fe i'm putting in the nash. tunnel ram's are hike hens teeth for an fe so you have explore other alternatives.

that's the intake adapter ordered then.... ?765 inc' shipping. lets hope i find a 351 cleveland tunnel ram for the right price next. it may seem an expensive way to get a tunnel ram but the only one i've seen for an fe engine was on american ebay at just under $2500!!!

That sounds a bargain for the amount of work! I watched Andy Park knock up his whipple manifold on Instagram and it was days of machining !

it seems i've located a tunnel ram for my nash. it's had the top altered for (i think enderle?) injection so i'll need to do something with that but it's not the end of the world.
